Penbontbren Luxury Bed and Breakfast

Outstanding accommodation, five star + facilities amazing gardens to enjoy. Breakfast was to die for, with locally sourced produce which was outstanding. Kathryn and Richard was very welcoming and went above and beyond. We will definitely return soon

Six of us visiting Wales for the first time. We found Penbontbren on a search for somewhere near Cardigan. What a find, This is a really lovely place to stay a few miles inland from the coast, we were there for two nights. All the rooms are suites so you get a sitting room, bedroom and a small kitchen area. Kathryn and Richard could not have been nicer, kinder or more helpful. After a bit of a disastrous stay in North Wales we were up for something a lot better and this absolutely hit the spot. It’s a lovely peaceful set up and we defy anyone not to be happy here, especially after those delicious breakfasts! We all loved Penbontbren!

Found the most idyllic place to relax and unwind. Katherine and Richard are great hosts and the breakfast was excellent,silver service and plenty of choice. Wonderful suite with a huge superking bed that was very comfortable and lots of 'special touches' even a card and chocolates when they found we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Will definitely be going back soon. Well deserved 5*

A return visit after a while and wonderful to see that Penbontbren still provides a wonderfully relaxing base for a mini-break. It was lovely to meet another couple, who like us, had only travelled a short distance to enjoy the delights of this part of the Welsh coast, at this off-season time of the year. Thanks again to Richard and Katherine for giving us a lovely welcome and hospitality.

One of a wonderfully isolated set of ground floor suites, with its own lounge and kitchenette. Ours had a twin bedroom and the beds were very comfortable, the lounge had a settee and armchair and both rooms had a television. There was a fridge and microwave in the kitchenette and a small breakfast bar. Each suite has it's own outdoor area to sit and the surrounding garden is large. Breakfast was spot on and taken in a beautifully laid out room in the owner's house opposite the suites. The owners are extremely nice, and on our last morning went out of their way to provide us with bacon sandwiches to take with us, as we had to leave before the designated breakfast times. We didn't get to have the full benefits of the garden and surrounding countryside because of the time of year, but we had two wonderful nights staying here and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

From the softly playing radio on arrival the whole experience was one of warmth and comfort well planned accommodation ,comfortable beds. Little touches like fresh milk and home baked Welch cakes to greet us . Excellent breakfast we are so glad we found this gem .

This is a great B&B with rooms that include a lounge area & small kitchenette. Tastefully decorated very clean and cared for. What was once a farm has been sympathetically restored and reworked to provide a range of accommodation including the original farm house if you have a large part or family. The property is accessed by a narrow lane but signposted from the main A487 coast Rd. The breakfast is as good as you will get anywhere.

This was a return visit and as before Kathryn and Richard were welcoming hosts. The accommodation was superb and extremely comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent!! The scenery around Cardigan is refreshing and uplifting and we are already making plans for our next visit! :-)

We had a very enjoyable 6 night stay in the garden suite at Penbontbren. A beautiful setting about a mile off the the main road in very quiet rural setting. Very comfortable king size bed , on suite shower room and an adjoining sitting area which comprised of small sofa , chair, breakfast bar and stools, mini fridge, microwave, tea and coffee facilities. After exploring the surrounding countryside and coast line it was nice to be able to relax in the sitting area when back. There is also an outside patio area for use. Housekeeping daily if you so wish. The breakfast was served a short 2 minute walk away in the breakfast room. Ample choice for breakfast, fresh fruit, cereals, juice. Cooked options prepared fresh .All delicious and plenty to set you up for the day. Kathryn and Richard are great hosts, friendly and knowledgable re the surrounding area. Lots to see if you like getting out and about. Some great pubs/ restaurants approx 20 min drive away in various directions , all recommended with good quality food. ( good idea to book ahead) Whilst there we saw Red Kites and even followed 2 badgers down the lane late one evening. A lovely setting and great base to explore this part of Wales. Places worth a visit- Cenarth Falls, MWNT and the little 6 th century church perched on cliff top, New Quay to spot dolphins ( we did see some, take your binoculars) Aberystwyth Rheidol Valley Railway to Devils Bridge. Cliff top walk from Aberporth to Tresaith.
