We very much enjoyed our 2-night stay at the Inn on Poplar Hill. The decor and food were amazing, including a Thanksgiving dinner with ALL of the trimmings. We stayed in the Blue Willow Room, which was very comfortable and well-appointed. The hosts were very friendly (but not overly so) and they provided tips for places to visit and things to do. A great bonus was that the Inn is dog-friendly and our dog felt very much at home! We would definitely go again and would recommend the Inn to anyone.

Our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. The inn keeper, Marty, was personable, kind, and helpful with our plans to explore the nearby vineyards. The location was excellent in the middle of wine country. Our room was upgraded with a steam shower and fresh coffee was placed outside our door every morning. The included breakfasts were delicious and very filling. I would definitely recommend a stay at this victorian bed and breakfast.

My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed for 3 days, 2 nights. A lot of B&B's we've stayed in did not have private bathrooms.... this Inn does. That's a major plus. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms very beautiful. The mornings started out with coffee, tea, and homemade cookies set out 1 1/2 hours before breakfast, which we had on the porch. Breakfast was made as requested and was very good. The best was that we never saw either of them unless we needed to and they were there immediately to assist. Would definitely stay there again. Thank you, Marty and Victoria.

This is an old in, and so it is unique. Nothing is new. Not standardized anything. You need to have an open mind and be a little adventurous. That said, it was clean and fresh everywhere. The service was outstanding, as others have mentioned. The breakfast was remarkable in terms of the quality and amount of food, and the service. The coffee was the best I've had outside of my own home. Marty brought me my coffee at 6:30 AM and then we had our breakfast in the dining room with other travelers a little later. We stayed in the Blue Willow Room. The bed was comfortably firm and the 2 person jacuzzi tub was fun (tho' challenging getting in and out for older folks). Loved the trails out back with out dog, who was warmly welcomed.

Stayed at this warm, friendly Inn in February. Honestly, the host could not have been more welcoming. Marty had our preferred half-caff coffee waiting in the morning outside our door so we could linger a little longer in bed. Great idea and really good coffee. Marty gave us walking suggestions also, when we said we wanted to do a light hike. They have 25 acres to wander through! The rooms are lovely and clean and the beds are fantastic. Best sheets ever! If you're going in the winter, bring a bottle of wine and have it in the living room by the fire. Marty will set you up with some hors d'oeuvres or simple snacks. We spent a nice two hours after our restaurant outing, in the living room chatting with another couple staying at the Inn. Marty and his lovely wife joined in also. Finally, if you go for anything, go for the breakfast. The cinnamon buns alone are worth it. We had eggs to order along with sausage, yogurt parfait, and I can't remember what else. We were good for the day!

There are a 1,000 things this Inn needs to fix and 50 of them are significant. The Innkeeper is friendly but without significant help can't possibly address all the issues with this ancient home. Lot's of potential but fell well short of balancing the value proposition.

Beautiful Colony home from the 1800’s, very welcoming and like walking back in time. Home was seclude but within a mile of downtown. Our host Marty and his wife made the best breakfasts with home made blackberry scones and raspberry waffles. Coffee was waiting outside our room each morning before making it downstairs for breakfast. Marty was very knowledgeable about the area and gave many helpful suggestions for visiting the area. I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast if you are looking to visit a beautiful area of Virginia with a lot of history. We were also 20 minutes from Culpepper and they had a beautiful downtown area to explore as well as Gordonsville.
