Masai Mara Manyatta Camp

We stayed here for 2 nights, that was 2 too many. The site is heavily in decay and should be invested in to make it acceptable again. Lots of lodges are not useable anymore, we had tented lodges where things looked not-taken-care of, zips that don’t work, dirty toilet, toilet leaking water, ceiling almost comming down, electricity falling out of the wall etc. No wifi. The food was OK but there was no choice in what to eat. The only positive thing is that it’s located near an entrance gate of masai mara. But to get there you have to ride a bumpy road through a small village with dirt on the ground all around…. We we not advise anyone to book this place.

The camp is ok. Rooms are fine. No frills, but you can sleep in them. They said you would get hot water if you turned on the switch but it never came - we also asked others, they didn't get any either. The power works with generator for a couple if hours morning and 3v3ning. No possibility to charge two phones and cameras. Food was awful. But the biggest joke was the 'packed lunch' they gave. If you're ok with cold water and no power it's fine to stay here but take your own food -especially if you're going on safari.

Although the camp is very basic it has everything you need at a decent price especially based on how close to the park you are. What the camp lacks in luxury Nicholas, the one man receptionist, chef, bar tender and general diy man, makes up for in spades with his enthusiasm and friendly demeanour!

The hotels and foods was always 5- star and amazing and I felt the value. For safaris is where I experienced the most amazing time. We travelled in a 4 x 4 car through various parks like Maasai Mara and Amboseli. Our guide was really good at explaining all the sections and experiences we had during the safari. I cannot emphasize enough how much seamless this safari was. All communication done effectively, special trea**ent, details in our camping areas, clean rooms, enough wildlife.
