Royal Mara Safari Lodge

Royal Mara Safari Lodge

📍 North Conservancy, Mara
★★★★ 9.8 (41 reviews)

"My wife and I were traveling to Africa for the first time to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary and were treated like royalty at The Royal Mara. It really was the HIGHLIGHT of our entire trip. The staff was so warm, accommodating and unbelievably kind and understanding. Our happiness was their #1 priority at all times. And the location - sleeping next to the hippos every night, hearing them communicate between one another, and seeing the monkeys run all around the property in the afternoon - added to the beauty of our perfect stay. And since it's located on the reserve, the game drives were incredible right from the very start! We saw every animal (and their babies!) in the Mara and couldn't have asked for a better experience. We want to personally thank all of the staff for being amazing caretakers of us for the entirety of our visit, and specifically: Gilbert for the superb meal service, Simon for the amazing safaris, Anna and Frances for such warm hospitality, and Veronica for being such a wonderful host. She knew it was our anniversary and planned several surprises for us during our stay. The level of care here is truly remarkable and we will cherish these special memories forever - Angelica & Michael"

"We spent 3 days in Mara River lodge and had a wonderful time at the Safari at Masai Mara. The Manager Jaydeep was very friendly and accommodated our requests for stay as a family of 3. He ensured we had a comfortable and happy stay at the lodge. The best feature of the lodge is that it is right by the river Mara and one can just sit at the bar and on the swings and watch several Hippos lounging around so close. Sometimes Crocodiles are seen here. The food was delicious and some dishes requested by us were prepared by Chef John and Esther was friendly and made sure we ate well. We also went on the Balloon safari which was extra special. All in all a wonderful trip in Kenya covering 3 different safaris"

"We had the most amazing stay at Emayian for 2 nights and 3 days. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the Maasai with a traditional dance, which was such a unique and beautiful experience. The staff throughout our stay were incredibly friendly and attentive. The rooms were spacious and luxurious, each featuring its own private outdoor jacuzzi . It was my fiancée's birthday during our stay, and the staff went above and beyond by surprising her with a cake and thoughtful decorations. It truly made the celebration extra special.I absolutely loved every part of the experience and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!"

"The camp's location in an uncrowded conservancy makes for intimate game experiences without vehicles overcrowding. The rooms are so spacious and beautifully furnished. The AC is such a lovely addition cooling the room on hot days. The best thing however is the staff; warm & bubbly, responsive, proactive and the friendliest."

"Wow, this was a dream come true, a bucket list holiday. This was a special holiday for my 50th birthday and it didn’t disappoint. I have no complaints and can’t find any fault with our stay here! Or safari guide Paul was fantastic showing us the animals and drip feeding us information throughout the 5 day safari there was nothing he didn’t know. Dennis was brilliant as Paul’s assistant. Geoffrey was our waiter and he was very attentive and made us feel at home straight away. Thank you to James the guard on making us feel safe on our evening safari walk. ( this is a must) Moses the camp manger was there to greet us and to wave us good bye. I left not ready to leave this wonderful place and not ready to go and with a tear in my eye! Thank you to all at the camp for a wonderful holiday xx"

Elewana Sand River Masai Mara

Elewana Sand River Masai Mara

📍 Masai Mara National Reserve, Mara
★★★★★ 9.8 (40 reviews)

"We had the most beautiful magical safari experience with Elewana Sand River we could ever hope for. Every element was more than we had hoped for. We arrived at the airstrip with much excitement and was met by our designated host/game driver who would be with us for all the game drives. Not only that he informed us its very likely it would be just us on each game drive as it was fairly quiet. This turned out to be one of the best parts of our safari journey. From the moment we met Alex waiting to pick us up to the moment he dropped us back to the airstrip he was a man full of such fascinating information and stories, there wasn't anything he didn't know or anything he wouldn't do for us. Alex K was the best, so attentive, so knowledgeable and had such a relaxed aura about him, He knew so much about the area he took us round and each day asked us what we would like to do and see. We saw pretty much everything, except Leopard. Plenty of Lions, Giraffes, Hippos, Elephants, Hyenas to Cheetah. Whether its an early morning game drive and back to lodge for breakfast and then a later sunset drive, or maybe go out for the whole day with Alex taking lunch with us and finding a beautiful tranquil spot on the savannah to picnic with our favourite bottle of Rose, One early evening Alex surprised us and took us to a perfect spot to watch sunset by a log fire and mobile bar where the Elewana staff were waiting to serve us whatever we wanted. Everything was arranged with the guests in mind. Sand River Lodge and our room was just beautiful and very spacious. We had our very own waiter, Boniface who saw to our needs so attentively. He was so sweet and helpful. All the staff were just so nice and we felt like royalty walking around. Thank you everyone for such a magical time and a special thanks goes out to Alex K, Boniface, Jeremiah. Thank you Elewana."

Entumoto Safari Camp

Entumoto Safari Camp

📍 Siana Conservancy Masai Mara Reserve, Mara
★★★ 9.9 (46 reviews)

"This review is a couple of months belated. Which is unfortunate on my part as Entumoto was one of the finest places we stayed in our nearly month-long adventure in South Africa and Kenya. We stayed here as the last stop on our Masai Mara safari at the very end of our trip. What a wonderful locale to finish it off. Everything about Entumoto is first-rate without anything coming across as the least bit pretentious. The staff is friendly beyond expectation; the game experts are so knowledgeable and informative; the restaurant offerings are superb; the tented rooms are just perfect giving you the feeling of sleeping in a tent while also having the necessary conveniences; (on that score the shower can't be beat); and the overall setting is unmatched with zebras roaming the property and gazelles, eland and all other kinds of antelope in easy view from the tent and the common veranda. We also admire the camp's commitment to the local villages and we glad to donate to the foundation for that purpose upon our departure. Very simply, we loved this place."

Royal Mara Safari Lodge ★★★★
"For our first safari trip ever we decided to travel to Kenya, Mara North Conservancy. Accommodation and the whole experience at Royal Mara camp was amazing and right inside the conservancy. The food was superb and so were the staff. We had a guard to escort us around the camp in case of animals coming to visit. Staying in a tent like accommodation, with all the luxuries including a bath, meant that we could hear the nature the whole time and we love that! Our permanent neighbours were hippos in the nearby river Mara plus lots of other animals that appeared when quiet & especially at night. There were two safari trips a day and each one was different and unique. We made some very special memories ❤️."

Neptune Mara Rianta Luxury Camp - All Inclusive. ★★★★
"The Neptune Mara Rianta is a stunning resort with a beautiful main area with a bar and restaurant. There is a small pool which is wonderfully refreshing after a day touring the conservation area. We were told that this resort was a little further from the main conservation area, but there was plenty to see right next to the resort and we had a Masaai guide show us around that area one afternoon. We enjoyed a bit of distance and that might be preferable in the busy season when there can be crowds at many of the sights. Our tent was spacious and very well-equipped. Beds were very comfortable, and there was a desk and a few chairs to sit in, as well as chairs on our large deck. I was really impressed with the quality of the bathroom and shower. Hard to believe that we were in a tent in the middle of nowhere. I could “camp” like that any day! Neighbourhood hippos were a highlight and being able to watch them bathe in the river mere metres from where we could sit was great. There was a small ridge separating the tent from the river. Large enough to keep the hippos away – and I didn’t test getting any closer. The hippos can be noisy from time to time, but it’s a small price to pay. I also loved the many small dik-diks that wandered around the site. Moses was our butler and took care of everything in our tent. He brought us coffee and a small snack as our wake up service every morning; including at 3:45am when we got up for a sunrise hot air balloon. He did laundry for us, turn down every night and the tent was spotless when we returned at the end of the day. Thank-you Moses. We did a hot air balloon ride one morning and I was amazing at how the whole camp was ready for us at 3:45am. Moses was there with coffee and snacks, we had a guide to walk us through the dark to the pick up, and someone was at reception to make sure we got away ok. The food was great, including box lunches that we had on safari. The head chef come over to meet us several times, including to make sure our lunches were good and to get any suggestions. Robert in the dining room took care of us at every meal, and the staff did an amazing job at quickly learning our preferences. He also made us laugh all the time. Thank-you Robert. There were also numerous other people that made our time at the Mara Rianta special – Salomon and Kevin at the bar, Peter in the dining room, and all the front desk staff that took care of things. I apologize for missing anyone, and I also know that with the level of service we received, there were undoubtedly many staff behind the scenes that we never saw but made it all wonderful. We whole-heartedly recommend the Neptune Mara Rianta."

Muthu Mara River Lodge ★★★★
"We booked the facility through an agent and only settled on it on condition of us getting adjacent rooms to protect our teenage daughters. However during the check-in the receptionist Ms. Sylvia lied to us that the room between me and the kids was permanently occupied by the hotel director only for us to see a male guest exit the room. Indeed the occupation of the room by the guest was affirmed to us by the manager a Mr. Elias. It was evident the room was swapped in favour of the foreign guest. The room was in a super horrible state stained toilet and all. If you’re a guest of African descent please avoid this facility you will be mistreated in favour of foreigners."

"For my family of six, including my 80-year-old in-laws, daughters, and spouse, it was an incredible experience. We were delighted to be greeted and welcomed by Alan and the group of Masai dancers. Later we were briefed and guided by Christine who was pleasantly kind as Susan served us welcoming drinks. It would be remiss of us not to mention the kitchen staff and especially Richard the chef and Susan. A three-course lunch, a six-course dinner, and an amazing bush breakfast were all wonderful surprises. We enjoyed drinks at the bar with Paul in the evening, and John escorted us to the bush breakfast in the morning. A stay at Emaiyan is truly a memorable experience because of the staff and the beauty of the surrounding, the comfort of the camps, as well as the delicious meals."

"Incredible opportunity to see the wildlife in the Maasai Mara on Olare Motorogi Conservancy land. Expert guides made the experience safe, comfortable, unforgettable. Incredible depth of expertise and sensitivity from our guide John. Love what Chef Eddie is doing in the kitchen here. Don't miss the chance to see his organic garden. Rooms and shared spaces are newly renovated and the place looks stunning. Accommodations are spacious and comfortable. Love the layout and the terrace, from which we saw elephants, hippos, birds..."

Karen Blixen Camp Masai Mara ★★★★
"We had an amazing stay at Karen Blixen Camp. We had a very long drive in from Lake Nakuru and made it in time for lunch which was a lovely introduction to camp. Service is impeccable, we were taken care of the moment we arrived and everyone knew our names immediately. Our room was fabulous, clean and perfect views over the Mara river with our own hippo wallowing. Our room was very comfortable and we had a turn down service every evening and a security escort during the night back to and from the restaurant. Everyone was so accommodating and made an effort to show us the local wildlife around camp too. The meals were amazing, with three courses for lunch and dinner. We ate very well during our stay! Drink options were great and we enjoyed the selection offered. Our waiter was lovely and made us feel very welcome, we enjoyed our meals immensely. We also did a few game drives and our diver/guide was incredible (Kisemei) and we saw so many Cheetah and Lions up close. We also had sundowners and breakfast on our drives, out in the open grassland with incredible the most views. The whole thing was honestly amazing. Karen Blixen camp was above and beyond a wonderful stay and we can't wait to come back again in the not so distant future."

"Asif our favorite pilot from Sky Safari flew us from Loisaba to the air strip in KeeKorok in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. Greeted by our new guide Enock, from the Elewana Sand River Camp Masai Mara. Arriving the camp, we have been greeted by Allen and his team. Jackson and Daniel spoiled us. Thank you for the wonderful birthday performance, the singing was amazing. The food exceptional like in all the other camps and lodges we stayed. The river was pretty high due to the hard rains and we have been told the rain season started early. It was cool in the morning, the outdoor shower was best to use in the early afternoon. Enock, showed us the boarder stones between Kenya and Tanzania, it was very educational, to hear about the differences between the two countries. Also Jeramiah, at the camp bar had a wealth of information on Kenya. Thank you all for your birthday cake and performance."

"This campsite was one of the places we stay on our budget safari tour. You shouldn't expect luxury here, but for its category it is a very good place. We were welcomed with a Masai dance, and it was something special. All the staff were very responsive. I would especially like to mention the chef, who was always present during meals and was interested in how we liked the food. We had two rooms on the hill, from this place there was a view of the Masai Mara National Park and in the evening we could watch from the balcony the animals playing in the distance f Access to this place is, I would say off-road, especially during or after rain, 4x4 is not a problem. There is also a pool, although the water was quite cold even for travelers from Northern Europe."
