The Cedar Motel

It was a quaint, quiet place with a retro vibe. The owner was working the office and she was friendly and helpful, allowing us to choose our room because we were the only ones there on that cold, out-of-season night. She had complimentary snacks and drinks (including beer) set out for guests. We will definitely return sometime.

The motel was very clean and comfortable, the lady at the desk was very nice and informational, the view was great, it was a very quiet and peaceful stay. I would stay here again. The two restaurants that are close, the food was good and the staff was very friendly.

air conditioner sounds like a freight train, mattress had springs banging all night, sink and shower backed up, couldn't use.

Clean easy to use property. Pet friendly which I didn’t care for but room was clean and didn’t smell like animals. Front desk setup was limited but worked. Overall I’d recommend it.

The most amazing part about this place is Saundra, the property manager. Attentive and responsive, despite having a highly demanding job outside of keeping up the Cedar, it was a great pleasure getting to know her a little. The next amazing part is that it is literally right across the street from a couple of park benches to sit at and watch the sun rise over Sandusky Bay. About a 10 minute walk and the view opens up even more. That part was very restful. This is not by any means a luxury accommodation, but for someone who raised a large family and did a lot of camping, it was more than adequate. Newer wood-grain laminate flooring makes me feel better that there is something weird like in a carpeted room, the beds were "ok", bathroom small but lots of abundant hot water. A fridge meant being able to keep our drinks cold overnight to help them stay that way in the cooler the next day. No "continental breakfast" but lots of snack goodies available in the office, and a wonderful restaurant right next door for dinner makes it a nice little getaway. Only bad thing was the neighbors fighting in the room next door and then being loud off and on all night. Not so good, but since I don't sleep well anyway, not a big deal for me lol. Bring earbuds and your own pillow and it's just about perfect.

This was our second time staying. Yes it’s a little place that could use some updates, but it is always super clean and well taken care of. You can’t find a more friendly and helpful manager. She has always been very helpful and thoughtful during our stay.

Very nice and comfortable room, very friendly staff. My youngest daughter said she rather sleep in the car until we got in the room (outside looks sketchy). Pleasantly surprised, beautiful room. The bed was AMAZINGLY comfortable. Will return.

The Cedar Motel is a hidden gem in the Sandusky Bay Area. Clean, cozy, and close to all attractions while still being off the beaten path in a unique location on the peninsula.

Our stay was absolutely fantastic. The property manager is so friendly and accommodating. The motel is in a great location right on the water and within walking distance to two restaurants.
