Demeures d'Orient Riad & Spa

We booked this last minute through easyJet. Which is something we’ve never done before, so weren’t sure of the quality or calibre of what our experience would be. We wanted some sun and a quiet relaxed place to stay. This lovely historic Riad delivered. Run by 3 generations of a family of French women, it is stylish and beautifully decorated without being gauche. With echoes to the 1920’s architecturally but with 2020’s facilities it is like being emerged in the decadence of a film set. From the crispy white bed linens to the bathrobes and shower gels - this Riad has you covered for comfort and luxury. There are 2 floors of rooms (with air con) all having large bedroom areas,living space and private bathrooms. The breakfast is varied and huge (kept us going most days till dinner in the evening) however you can eat lunch at the Riad too. The swimming pool is large, (for a Road pool) clean and inviting as well as the roof terrace where you can sit, sunbathe or relax in the shade on the sofas. The spa has the most amazing woman working there, whose smile brightens you let alone the incredible treatments she can offer. We had hanmam’s and massages and left feeling like a new person every time. We received incredible service from all the staff, even to ordering us taxi’s and recommending and booking restaurants for us. This was one of the most relaxing breaks we’ve ever experienced, as the hotel offered you great service without fuss and made you feel welcome but not hovered over. We absolutely loved our stay here, from the moment we arrived the service was amazing - the staff are so warm & friendly & can’t do enough for you. The Riad itself is stunning & even better at night, it’s the most romantic setting ever! It’s in the perfect location & walkable to all the best spots - although set back from the main road so still quiet & peaceful once inside. The pool is a bonus, a great way to cool off in the heat & sunsets from the roof terrance are epic. We had a traditional gamma in the beautiful spa which was so relaxing. Our room was gorgeous, so spacious & such a comfy bed. Thanks for an amazing stay! We will be back again 10/10!

The location of this riad was perfect, close to the souks and city center, but very quiet and safe neighborhood. If felt like an oasis of peace in the middle of the city. Also the room clean and the staff was very friendly. We will definitely come back when we visit Marrakesh!

Loved this riad! It has to be the most beautiful riad in all Marrakech. Loved the decor and vibes, especially at night when they lit the candles. Our room was spacious and gorgeous, the pool was really nice and we loved the pool. The staff was also super nice!

This has been the worst experience I've ever had. Demeures is FAR from a luxury Ryad. It is impossible to find, old, the AC is super noisy, can't sleep at night. The bathroom/shower has no curtain so water splashes out everywhere and it is curved at the base so huge risk of falling and slipping while showering. The bath plug isn't even functional so you can't even take a bath. The worst part is that they served us mouldy pastry for breakfast! I unfortunately did not take a picture of the mouldy pastry, and the Ryad accused me of making this up to get a refund! Shocking beyond belief. Also I had a nosebleed on the last night and was shocked to be charged EU45 additional for the sheets to be cleaned, and again accused by the Ryad for covering the blood up on the sheets. Absolutely ridiculous and untrue as the only way I would be able to cover it up is to wash the sheets myself! Avoid this Ryad at ALL costs. When I had written this feedback on AirBnB, the Ryad could not take constructive criticism and said I was hostile and impolite when I was very polite in my communication with them. In response and defensiveness, made accusations about me making up that their pastry was mouldy and that accused me of hiding bloody sheets!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This is a true oasis in the Medina. We were delighted that we chose this riad - part of the easyJet accommodation on offer. It is stunning in its attention to detail. With just 11 rooms it is very intimate and peaceful. The room we had on the ground floor was beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Service was excellent . We enjoyed retreating here after the buzz of the Medina . There is a lovely rooftop area where you can relax with a book or stretch out on one of the loungers and the pool was refreshing to cool down in. Breakfast is served around the pool to your table , there was a good range of fruit, pastries ,yogurt and a boiled egg . We also ate here in the evening on three occasions. The food was delicious and the setting like a fairy tale with lovely lights, lanterns and candles giving a fabulous atmosphere in the evening. I think a stay in a riad is a must as it gives you a slice of Moroccan culture that you can't attain in a big hotel. Highly recommended.

My wife and I have had an incredible stay at this boutique Riad ‘osáis’ of peace, beauty and tranquility in the middle of the busy world of the Medina and its traffic chaos. Wonderful customer centric staff led by a ‘trio’ of strong French women: ‘la grandmere, la mere et la fille’ who have designed, built and now operate this most beautiful, authentic Riad. The attention to detail as well as the cultural ambience created are spectacular. Highly recommended and great value. A must if you want an authentic Marrakesh experience.

Likely, you’ll have to walk a short distance from your car to enter the hotel, but it’s well worth it. We all luxuriated around the pool area and enjoyed our Moroccan tea that was awaiting us while we conducted the check-in process poolside. We could not have been more pleased with our room - it was large and well-appointed. We noticed that the rooms had different themes - ours was Byzantine, and a friends’ was Venice. If there’s any downside, and I say this with hesitation only so that you’re informed - the shower is open. I’ll include a picture. The drawback for us was that when I was in the shower, my friend couldn’t use the toilet or the bathroom mirror until I was done. Fortunately, we’re old friends and this was minimally impactful. Might be zero impact, in fact it could be an asset, if you were a romantic couple. Also of note -and this is true all over Morocco- the bedding situation in a double room is often 2 twins pushed together. If you’re a couple, the bedding isn’t conjoined. And, if you’re just friends, you’re pretty close together. We weren’t impacted by this at all. As the rest of our group prepared to go out to dinner, we were entranced by the hotel and opted to stay in. They have beer, wine and liquor and a very nice dinner menu. The Moroccan wines were excellent, by the way. I think we all had a variety of tagine. Of course, the array of Moroccan salads is also an excellent option. And, anytime you sit down, olives and nuts are presented. Whether you stay in or go out, plan to be present for the chandelier lighting at dusk. They hoisted down a huge candle chandelier, lit it, and then re-placed it above the pool. It’s just so lovely and so old-world. Also, after dark, be sure to check out their rooftop. Gorgeous and serene. Look down and see the city, look up and watch the stars. Two of us caught a shooting star! The bird sounds in the morning are loud, but beautiful. They awoke most of our group, but not in an unpleasant way. In fact, my phone alarm is birds chirping, so we awoke wondering why the chirping pattern had changed. The customer service was excellent and attentive. I would definitely return to this hotel.
