Hotel Marquee Medellin

This review is for the Coffee Tasting Experience at the hotel. We did not stay at the hotel. We just visited for the Coffee Experience and it was more than worth it! I learned so much about coffee and had a lot of fun doing it! Javier is fantastic! He's very knowledgeable and funny and speaks great English! I would highly recommend you do this while in Medellin!

Positive - Great location, with nice views and comfortable features. Most of the staff are amazing. The bed was comfortable and the pool area was relaxing. The neighborhood is great, and while the street is dark and sometimes noisy, I actually enjoyed it. Negative - Over promises and under-delivers. The food was average at best. Food and drinks were overpriced. This hotel promises a quaint, boutique character, and certainly charges for it, but provides a shallow caricature of the quality and comfort it promises. The management are aloof and pretentious, content to provide attitude in lieu of personalized service or quality product. I won’t be back. There are many nice hotels in the Parque Lleras area, and most don’t havethe attitude or baggae of Marquee.

😊After reading so many reviews, we decided to book. Amazing property located right in the middle of everything. All staff were always courteous with a big smile and whiling to help at all times. Breakfast was hearty full of good options and fresh squeeze orange juice. Delicious coffee is served as well. Decoration all over the hotel it’s just amazing, we love it. L’Occitane products in the bathroom were a must. In-house Abbiocco restaurant was the best we had in Medellín. High speed internet overpasses 250MB and an Epson home cinema in-room that features Roku, Netflix, and many others. A white noise box available so you won’t hear most of caos from outside. As requested, a coffee machine was available, no an espresso but a local brand: Juan Valdez. Fresh filtered water in room avoiding plastic bottles. Free snacks and soft drinks at the minibar. ☹️We didn’t find the room big enough to be called a Suite. The fake plants in the room. Medellin has Monsteras🍀everywhere and could be used instead of plastic ones. Bed was actually two twins together so be ready to sink if you’re a couple and also a bit soft for our taste. No a lot of water pressure in the shower.. Amenities were not for a 5*.. Missing shaving kit, sewing kit, cotton swabs, make up remover, shoe polisher pad, Hair Comb, bedroom slippers, bar soaps. Only a dental kit, Earplugs & shower cap were available. Pool was very small but nice to have a lovely drink in the rooftop 😎 Everyone talks about the noise and honestly we don’t know how they would control it … since there’s bars and clubs everywhere. It wasn’t an issue for us but we could hear it on the 9th floor.

I visited Poblado but had to leave this hotel early as the location was overrun by ***********, panhandlers, and noise until 4am booming outside the window. My friend found it impossible to sleep due to the clubs across the street as well, so we both found a much nicer place just a block or two away from Lleras park. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here, it's the worst location in Poblado. Furthermore, after I left I had an extremely difficult time dealing with an employee named Anderson and the hotel manager named Laura. They double charged me for my room and created a whole new unauthorized reservation extension without my permission. They acted oblivious to the facts that I checked out and even left the country. After much effort, they credited me back the overcharge but did not accept any accountability for their "mistake" or feedback on their behavior. This isn't the kind of staff you can trust. The hotel itself is new and clean, the roof is nice, but small, not popular and not great service. The restaurant is nice. There is no gym. Not worth it.

Amazing hotel from rooms, location, cleanliness, and most of all staff. Great lobby bar and restaurant as well as rooftop bar. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Plenty of places to eat and go out to that are within a short walk. Rooms are large with great decor and amenities. We loved our comer king room with projector TV and wrap around glass windows. Will be back!!!

This place was absolutely amazing! It’s extremely aesthetically beautiful and the employees go above and beyond to make the your experience the out of this world. I have to put an extreme emphasis on the Colombian Rum Tour that is available for reservation. Not only is it educational, but it is also amazingly fun includes a very unique look into the history of rum. Carlos was so great to listen to and so very personable that I felt like I was hanging out with a friend who was giving a tour. If you go to Medellín, Colombia, you absolutely have to make this experience a priority on this itinerary. 100/10 cannot wait to come do this again!!!

We were a bit anxious staying here due to some negative reviews of the hotel. However, our experience was excellent, yes it is in a very noisy area this is stated on the hotel website so you are pre warned. But it is noisy because it is in such a buzzing location with plenty of bars/ restaurants / clubs and cafes. We found the staff to be excellent from check in to check out. Staff were friendly, welcoming and spoke better English than we experienced in other hotels. Rooms are beautifully decorated and stylish, roof top area is small but a pleasant space to spend some time and have a drink over looking the city. Breakfast menu is small and is a la Carte menu. The dishes we had were very good and the staff in restaurant were excellent and friendly. Overall a fantastic stay and we would have been happy to stay longer as we only stayed for 2 nights. Top tip bring ear plugs and request a high floor room. I would absolutely recommend this hotel if you want to be in about the action.

As other reviews have mentioned, after 2 nights unable to sleep, we had to cancel the rest of our stay and move to another place. The hotel sits right above 3 night clubs that blast music until 4am every day of the week. Rooms aren't properly insulated so you're sleeping essentially next to the speakers. Hotel didn't help in any way and they refused to refund the remaining nights. I was also refused an itemized receipt of my stay. Certainly a sketchy operation.

The hotel rooms and rooftop were excellent. The location was awful with the noise and sketchy people soliciting all the time as you left the hotel. We moved to a quieter hotel. The service was unfortunately stupid, as it took several tries to convince the dishonest front desk staff not to charge us for nights we never stayed. Do not stay here!
