My wife and I stayed at the Acronafplia Pension A earlier this month and, although I was very sick the entire time, very much enjoyed our stay there. The only warning I would give is that the incredible views come at a cost - you are literally at the top of the old town and you'll need to have some ability to go up and down a fair number of steps to go down into the town. First, we would recommend getting a cab up to the old Xenia hotel on your arrival. Lugging bags up the hill is no fun, especially at 2pm in July. It's nearly flat if you get a cab to take you to the small parking lot at the old hotel though - not a difficult task at all to get to the hotel from there. It's about 4-5 euros to get a cab from the cab stand at the courthouse up there though. As for the room, the bed was comfortable, the fridge was great, the bathroom was nice, and the small balcony did have enough room for two people. You'll definitely want to sit out there at dusk. And Georgios, the manager, and his wife were nothing but kind to us. They even set up an appointment for me with their doctor and explained exactly how to get there. The breakfasts are served on the patio in front (they have a very nice courtyard). There's not much of anything else right outside the pension. You do have to go down at least a few streets to get to a restaurant, and all the way down the hill to do much shopping. It's not a luxury hotel, but a charming old house at the top of the city with six rooms, run by a sweet family. I have no qualms recommending it.
