Guest UserChoosing Beanstalk Homestay for my Semporna trip was absolutely the right decision! The owner and staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, treating you like friends. Before I even arrived, they patiently answered all my questions and gave me tons of practical tips for island hopping and dining. While the room isn't luxurious, it's spotlessly clean, the AC works great, there's plenty of hot water, and the bedding is really comfortable. Getting a good night's sleep after a day of activities is so important.
The service was the biggest plus! The seafood preparation prices were excellent, and the breakfast, though simple, was thoughtfully prepared – coffee, toast, and eggs, perfect for fueling up before heading out to sea. Next time I'm in Semporna, I'll definitely stay at Beanstalk Homestay again.

I booked this guesthouse based on a recommendation from a Xiaohongshu blogger. It's very clean and doesn't have any strange odors. I'd say it's one of the cleaner accommodations in town. The showers are communal, and you need to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste, but towels are provided. Just be aware that during busy times, you might have to wait for hot water, and the water pressure isn't very strong.
The location is excellent and quite safe; you need a key card to enter the main gate. It's very convenient to walk to the pier, and right next door is the tour agency for 'Conch Diving' guides.
The owner is very nice, and I really like Malaysian people. Thank you! It was a very pleasant experience.

The service was excellent. The owners, a Chinese family, were incredibly welcoming. We were worried about finding a place to eat during the New Year, but reviews mentioned they could lend us their kitchen, and they certainly didn't disappoint. We had two twin rooms. A small suggestion: the beds could be a little bigger to make it perfect. The owner's wife even helped me buy some wild vegetables. Thank you so much! 🙏🙏

Guest UserThe room was quite clean, and all the toiletries were well-stocked, including mineral water, toothbrushes, and a hairdryer. Many other hotels or guesthouses here don't offer these amenities. What really stood out was the abundance of hangers in the room, about twenty of them. We never had to worry about running out of hangers, even for all the clothes we washed daily.
The best part was the swimming pool; it was incredibly clean and rarely crowded. Perhaps people were too tired from playing in the sea to go to the pool. We practically had the pool to ourselves every evening, which was fantastic.
Another plus was the breakfast. While it's not quite up to par with boutique hotels back home, it's a great convenience for guests who need to catch an early ferry. Having food readily available downstairs was a lifesaver. And that tea they served every day – I don't know what it was, but it was delicious!

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The location is beautiful, set in a jungle with lush greenery and flowers all around and it feels peaceful the moment you arrive. The staff were generally nice, especially the Chinese-speaking lady. The rooms are quite spacious, with two large double beds that were very comfortable, and relatively clean given the remote location. They also offer shuttle buses to and from town, though these are limited and require advance booking.
On the downside, the remoteness creates some challenges. The shuttle requires early wake-ups and long waits as the day tours start later, and there isn’t much to do in town once you arrive. Prices at the resort are very high compared to town, and they charge extra when paying with Alipay or WeChat in Chinese yuan as instead of local currency they charge in Chinese yuan with elevated rates, which felt unfair.
Also the room’s roof material made the rain extremely loud. During our stays,it rained all nights during, and even earplugs didn’t fully help with the sound.
Breakfast was also limited and not great in quality.
Overall, the hotel has a lovely setting and comfortable rooms, but advertising it as 5-star felt misleading. It’s more like a 3–3.5 star experience. Worth visiting if you want the location and nature, but be aware of the extra costs and limitations.

Fengzhongfeixiangdexiaoyaojing897The room was spacious and comfortable. The owner was a lovely and friendly young lady who spoke fluent Chinese. There were several small supermarkets nearby, making things very convenient. The ice cream was also delicious and inexpensive. If you're interested, you should definitely check it out!

Guest UserFacilities: Fully equipped and practical.
Cleanliness: Spotless.
Environment: Spacious and comfortable.
Service: Warm and attentive.
The hotel is right by the seafood market, making it super convenient to go to places like Fat Mama's for meals. The room is quite large, the beds are very clean, and the water pressure for showering is excellent. We stayed with two kids, so four of us in total, and it was great value for money. There are even security guards patrolling, and Filipino housekeepers help with luggage, which is a nice touch.

ShanyouzhenI chose this hotel for a one-night stay before heading to the overwater bungalow the next day. Although the room facilities were a bit old, they were very clean. There's a convenience store right downstairs, and it's very close to the pier. The sea breeze was a bit loud at night, but the breakfast was excellent and plentiful.

Really basic hotel. All of the other reviews are correct about the state of it but the location is perfect!!! So close to the best restaurant area and by the water. I would highly recommend staying in this area of semporna. Just know that you're getting a basic room.
