I booked a surprise stay for our wedding anniversary. When we arrived the staff was very friendly and we got our room - a double room, but I had booked and paid for a superior double so the room was very disappointing in that aspect. To make the matter worse the bathroom was not properly cleaned. We said this in the reception, but they had no one on staff that was able to clean the room so we changed rooms. Still a standard double. We hadn’t booked a table in the restaurant in advanced since I would let my husband decide. We decided to reserve a table at Ry Gastropub. I booked a table online - when I got the confirmation I realized I had only booked a table for one. So I called the restaurant to inform about my mistake. The waitress that answered was extremely rude in her tone. She told me that I could not book a table since they had so many customers coming. There was no form of help in saying when there would be a table ready. So we looked for somewhere else to eat. We then decided to get take away fro Ry Gastropub. Again I was met by the waitress with the rude attitude telling me - “That is not possible I’m closing for take away now” - and then she made clear that the conversation was done. So we found another restaurant not associated with the hotel. On our way there we passed Ry Gastropub - on the door was a sign “We are closed today” - actually fair enough but why did the waitress tell me something else? And later, on our way back, we saw people come out with take away - which we could not get. The next morning we went down for breakfast. It was simple but well assorted buffet. The problem was that everything was cold - including the scrambled eggs, sausages etc. But to be fair they did refund me the difference between a standard double room and a superior double room. I had fair expectations but was sadly disappointed in all matters.
