This is a nice hotel. As a stop over near San Jose airport it’s really good. Lovely pool and garden, nice breakfast, large comfortable rooms and good value. As you first stop or last on a trip o Costa Rica you would be hard pressed to find better at this price.

Did not have all services advertised. We chose this resort for the spa facilities which were unavailable during our stay. They said only offered certain days (should say this in description). We saw on info on internet that they offered a shuttle to airport which was again unavailable. We had to take taxi. Tried using credit cards and their machines did not work with 2 of our cards (which we know worked as we used in other sites during our days there). Air conditioning did not work in our room. Bed was uncomfortable. The gym was old. Restaurant offered only 4 different cocktails. Depending on site, this site is rated as a 4 or 5 star resort (which was probably the case at a certain time). But I would rate as 3 star at best. The staff were very friendly. The pool was great. Food at restaurant was very good.

Am greatly enjoying my stay in Costa Rica and here in lovely La Garita at the Martino Hotel. The hotel itself is quite special -- guests stay in separate tile-roofed buildings spread across the lush, green grounds. I imagine that the views from each room must be quite unique and special. It was so enjoyable sitting and reading on the deck outside my room watching the nearby bamboo forest sway in the gentle wind while listening to the fascinating calls of many species of birds perched in the many species of trees. Extra 5 stars and muchas gracias to the very helpful and friendly staff whose efficiency really impressed me (the hotel was hosting a conference when I stayed there in event space not far from my room, so I could witness first hand how hard the hotel team was working).

Since there is absolutely nothing to see in San Jose (city hall, heavy traffic), I recommend this hotel for an arrival stop or before departure. Unbeatable value for money. A beautiful swimming pool, a very decent restaurant and spacious rooms.

En el restaurante tienes que compartir tu espacio con dos perrazos, del dueño, que campan a sus anchas. No tienen la menor atención a los clientes, que no les importan nada. De las experiencias más malas que he tenido, ya que adquiri un cupon de yuplon donde supuestamente ofrecían un pase del día en el hotel más spa para 2 personas, desde que llegamos la atención de la recepcionista fue mediocre, me indicó que el servicio que adquirí no es el mismo que ofrece el hotel, al final el supuesto pase del día era simplemente el uso de la piscina, al ver que tampoco contábamos con una habitación como lo señalaba la publicidad engañosa decidimos pasar el día en el Zooave que esta en frente (De lo único que no me arrepiento de haber ido hasta ahí). Decidimos volver en la tarde para recibir el tratamiento de spa, desde que llegamos la señora que nos atendió venía con un tono prepotente y a la defensiva preguntándome si traia paños (Por dios es un spa, me hubieran avisado que tenía que traerles la camilla también) al explicarle toda la situación que nos pasó me indica que la culpa es nuestra por que ya a muchos les han explicado como es que funciona la '' supuesta oferta'' confirmándome que mucha gente les ha pasado lo mismo, uno pensaría que sí, varios han tenido el mismo problema. Será por que su publicidad es engañosa?. Decidimos no gastar más nuestro tiempo en un hotel que no le brinda ninguna opción a sus clientes. Ya me han contado de muchas malas historias de ese hotel y lastimosamente fui uno más de los que han tenido una terrible experiencia, cero recomendado.

El pasado 11 de diciembre, mis amigas y yo (somos 4) reservamos un paquete en el Spa Cleopatra (que pertenece al hotel). Desde un primer momento las cosas no fueron bien. Nos pidieron llevar nuestro propio paño, porque ellos no brindaban batas a los clientes por el "COVID-19", lo que no tiene lógica alguna, pero lo peor es que vimos como a una clienta extranjera no le aplicaron la misma política. En general había poca privacidad al punto de ser ofensivo, te tenías que pasear de un lugar pasando por las puertas principales, usando solo un paño, nos tuvimos que cambiar en una cuarto que colindaba con el cuarto de vapor y el sauna, donde había un hombre con su pareja, que casi nos encuentra en nuestros trajes de Eva, no cerraban las puertas durante la sesión de masajes, etc. Todo esto disminuyó muchísimo nuestra sensación de relajamiento, pues no somos indiferentes a este tipo de situaciones y el spa debería entender que no todos sus clientes se sienten cómodos con este nivel de exposición. Por otra parte, cómo fuimos atendidas en pareja por una sola persona, el tiempo de masaje se redujo a la mitad, en lugar de que las dos masajistas que estaban ese día, nos atendiera de manera simultánea. El masaje fue poco placentero, corto e invasivo (en el caso de 1 de las masajistas). Salimos las 4 decepcionadas, pues era una experiencia que habíamos estado esperando para celebrar la finalización del año laboral. Pasamos al restaurante, que también estaba atendiendo a pocas personas; sin embargo, esto no hizo nada positivo por el servicio, que fue lento y olvidadizo, recibíamos la mitad de lo que pedíamos y en algunas oportunidades, simplemente desistimos. En general, con instalaciones poco cuidadas y servicios deficientes, no pretendemos volver.
