The MGM was an incredible stay — a perfect blend of style, comfort, and top-tier service. From the moment I arrived, the attention to detail was clear. The staff were warm and professional, the rooms were sleek and spacious, and the overall atmosphere was pure luxury. The design of the hotel is modern and striking, with a touch of bold personality that sets it apart. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re living in a movie. I had such a great experience here and will definitely be coming back. Huge thanks to the entire MGM team for an unforgettable stay.

A Hidden Gem on Wukang Road The hotel’s location is simply perfect—nestled in the heart of the former French Concession, along the tree-lined Wukang Road. Towering plane trees form a lush green canopy overhead, their branches intertwining like endless emerald tunnels. The neighborhood is dotted with charming boutiques and cafés, making it ideal for leisurely city walks.   The building itself is a masterpiece of architecture—an exquisite work of art. Though compact, it offers just the right amount of space for a tranquil retreat.   Our room was incredibly comfortable, featuring a spacious terrace that opened directly into a small garden. The view was a sea of greenery and blooming flowers. We kept the French doors wide open, letting in the gentle spring breeze. In the evenings, we spent hours on the terrace sipping tea, chatting, and reading. The book left thoughtfully by our bedside, *The Golden Branches and Jade Leaves of Shanghai*, was so engrossing that I couldn’t put it down—even during my bath!   Breakfast the next morning was delightful. Alongside the expected Western-style breakfast set (fitting for a heritage mansion), there was a sweet and unexpected touch: a warm bowl of pumpkin millet congee.   But what truly stood out was the exceptional service. We had ordered two bicycles to bring back to Singapore, but due to reinforced packaging for air transport, they exceeded the airline’s size restrictions. With limited time before our flight, we had to arrange last-minute shipping to a logistics hub in Guangzhou. The front desk staff—Ivy, Ace, and Boris—handled everything with remarkable patience and efficiency. They took charge of the freight arrangements, allowing us to leave for the airport without a single worry.   My only regret? Not finishing that captivating book. I suppose I’ll have to return to the Metropolitan Seclusive Life in Wukang to read the rest.

Good things first: location is good as it’s close to metro and near Jiajia tang bao! Staff were really pleasant and friendly! However the room layout is awful! The showroom is right next to the front door which means the bath mat needs to be placed right next to the door where it’s most likely to be dirty. And if you happen to open the door at the same time when someone enters, good luck with door smashing and no privacy! Next to the shower cubicle is the toilet which is facing the mirror and the toilet door is made of glass! So if the lights are on and someone is sitting on the toilet, what a view for another person in the room to observe! And we were travelling with a young kid so extra trouble! The light panel was on the same level with the bed which wasn’t an obvious problem until lights suddenly turned on three times between midnight and 2am, I figured it was caused by our pillows slightly overhanging above the control panel! So many careless design flaws that makes our stay very stressful. The worst is that the smoke detector was wrapped by toilet tissue! Clearly the previous guests had found a way to deactivate the smoke detector to have a cigarette! Had anyone carried out basic inspection this would have been fixed but clearly there is lack of supervision and management. Overall I do not recommend especially when travelling with family or care for privacy.

I am surprised that the rooms are well maintained. The room is clean and furniture new and well maintained. I appreciated that they arranged that I need not change room as I added another night to my package. I was delighted with the policy of free soft drinks for first round per day! The amenities could be better topped up eg shower and hand soap. However, I like it that they have disposable, comfortable and durable slippers. On last stay day, they offered to call a cab for us and concierge on duty on 15 May at about 7pm proactively helped us with the luggages. Variety of foods at breakfast could have more options and cover fave more eats in Shanghai. I am amused by the robots that can bring up the takeaways to the room. Dyson hair dryer dries hair fast for better sleep. Overall, I am very satisfied with the hotel. I would use this hotel again.

The room had smoking smell even though it’s smoking free hotel. You can’t use the swimming pool without the hat, or you can buy for 49 rmb. But I don’t think you would want to use it cause there are always swimming classes for children so it’s not enjoyable for people who stay there. The rest is fine.

Excellent service from the front desk staff, who provided so much useful help with ordering things, locating lost deliveries, providing helpful nearby recommendations, couriering last min items etc. Beyond grateful! Hengshan Ascott is a wonderful tranquil serviced apartment set on beautiful eucalyptus tree-lined streets. Super comfortable stay for my family of 6 with spacious rooms, floor heating, large bathroom with both shower and bathtub; also loved the Dyson hairdryer, furry slippers, and Appelles toiletries for that touch of pampering.

It's my mother's birthday. It's been very hot in the summer recently, and I can't eat any big meals. I came to the new hotel and can exercise in the new Xujiahui Sports Park in the evening. Let me talk about this experience. After booking, the housekeeper team will contact me by phone and add WeChat to help arrange various needs. Special thanks to Jason and pacey. On my mother's birthday, we arranged the same cake as the Wanti Stadium. The elders liked it very much. The flavor should be cheese + blueberry core. The hotel opened in 2025 and the facilities and hardware are good, but the sports figures at our door may have been taken away by other guests, leaving an empty base. The swimming pool is not big, but it is suitable for children to practice. It is a transparent pool on the side, which is convenient for taking pictures of swimming styles. The only small flaw is that the sound insulation material of the floor-to-ceiling windows is average. The wind and nearby noises affect sleep. In addition, for breakfast and dinner, the products of the 94 restaurant are still very good. The beef burger is rich in gravy and the children like it very much.

Overall I enjoyed my stay, the rooms were big and the location great. The layout of the basement gym area is very confusing and there is a level of refinement that is missing. The service was good, very attentive and kind. I would recommend.

A friend recommended me to stay at Capella. I was also here to celebrate my birthday. As soon as I walked in, it was covered with trumpet creepers. It had a very Shanghai feel. The room was a small house on the fourth floor. Each floor had a clear division of labor. The housekeeper Raven Xiaozhu was very considerate. The service was perfect. The experience was great! I will come back next time if I have the chance!
