We stayed in the summer with a group of friends in the Carriage House Grand Suite and it was perfect for us. There was enough room to have our own quiet spaces to retreat to also and socialize in the common area, which had seating, a TV and small kitchenette. The Positives: The Suite: Bedrooms, bathrooms had a luxury hotel feel with comfy beds, ample and good-quality toiletries, towels, bathrobes, etc. Good air conditioning. Lovely views. Nice vibe overall -- historic property updated with modern amenities. Quaint eating area, parlour, bar etc. Nice staff: Overall staff were friendly and helpful. Some reviewers complained that they were inexperienced -- when we were there, some of the staff seemed to be local college students and, yes, some were not polished in a way that chain hotel workers might be, but they were polite and more than eager to help. Breakfast: Fresh and tasty. The So-Sos: The grounds could have been better maintained and seemed a bit neglected. Some flowers in urns and window boxes could have gone far to raise the look to a higher level. The pool looked lovely in the photos but when we got there it looked tired. We had a good time there, and enjoyed our stay -- but it was quite expensive, especially given that the pool had been a major draw given that it was a hot summer, but was not as nice as we had expected. However, it does seem like one of the nicest properties in the areas.

Hasbrouck House was delightful from start to finish, in every way. The design is impeccable and stylish (leaning into the historic while bringing it stylishly up-to-date), with thoughtful amenities (blankets for sitting by the fire, plenty of games and books, an outdoor sauna and cold plunge) and amazing service. The staff was so kind and hospitable, catering to every need (including starting up a fire for us and providing free supplies for smores); and the complementary breakfast (coffee, fresh cider donuts, oatmeal, etc) was so appreciated. The icing on the cake was the incredible restaurant, Butterfield, where we ate one of best dinners we've had in recent memory. Would definitely go back. (My only incredibly minor complaint: cheap scratchy toilet paper!)

My recent stay at Hasbrouck House in Stone Ridge, NY, was a delightful winter retreat. From the initial phone call to the helpful staff (who offered me a late checkout so we could enjoy the lovely lake on the property a bit longer) to the thoughtful advice provided during check-in and the following morning, the experience was exceptional. Centrally located in the Mid Hudson Valley, the hotel serves as an ideal base for exploring nearby communities like Kingston and Woodstock, as well as natural wonders such as Joppenbergh mountain - an easy hike just 10 minutes from the hotel. Overall, my stay at Hasbrouck House was a perfect winter getaway, thanks to the attentive staff, historic ambiance, and convenient location. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience the beauty of the Hudson Valley region.

I had the pleasure of working with Sam when calling to schedule a surprise stay at the beautiful Hasbrouck House for my fiancés birthday. When you think about usually dealing with customer service it isn't necessarily one of the highlights of travel BUT!!! I cannot speak more highly of how helpful, compassionate & thoughtful Sam was when providing assistance for my requests & pleads in helping to plan this. Do not know what I would do without her help and have to say having someone like her on staff even more so is a reason to return.....Thanks again Sam!

I arrived on a December evening and it was very difficult to figure out where to check in. It was very dark and not well marked. Once I was able to park and follow the path to reception the check in girl was very kind. The main house is gorgeous and the grounds are beautiful. Upon check i was told I was in room 10 which was on the top floor. No one helped me bring my bag up but once in the room it was charming. Clean and nice big bed, great shower and a little sitting area. The room was very warm. The windows did not have any screens that I could open. There was a window AC unit and I turned it on but it was not working. I slept horribly that first night. When I asked the front desk in the AM how to turn down the heat, I was told that the house is on a radiator system and can not be adjusted individually. She said she would turn the heat down in the house and send up fans and get someone to check the AC unit. I was there for 3 more night and asked to change rooms because I would not sleep again. They were very accommodating and moved me to the carriage house. It was a much nicer/bigger room with a sink and refrigerator. The room was much cooler and I slept amazing. The carriage house didn't have the same feel as the house but that was OK, I would rather sleep. There were several spiders and bugs in the room both dead and alive. When I went by the front desk the next am, I explained that and asked for housekeeping to do a deep vacuum which they did. The restaurant for dinner was delicious and a great atmosphere. The breakfast however was very light and late. Didn't even get started until 8:30am. The location was perfect, could walk to everything in town. Everyone that worked her was delightful and friendly. I would stay here again.

We visited New York to see friends and decided a few days upstate would be lovely in the Autumn. The grounds and house itself were beautiful. Our first interaction with a girl on reception was less than adequate. There was not the kind welcome we expected, and more than anything we felt like we were an inconvenience being there. We asked her to book a restaurant for us (given the restaurant was shut) - which she decided not to. We arrived at the restaurant and there was no reservation in our name or the hotels name. There definitely wasn't the inclination to advise us more about the facilities or the sauna which we could use. And there was a lot of eye rolling when we asked anything. We went to use the sauna - fully clothed with our costumes and dressing gowns in hand. We asked if there were showers and she said yes. To our surprise - there were no changing facilities, and yet she had just directed us to where the sauna was. I felt it was rather strange not to advise us to change before heading to the sauna - given there was no changing room to change. The Sauna wasn't on - she didn’t tell us how to use the sauna, until we went back to reception and asked. It felt like she thought we were stupid when she showed us how to use it. The breakfast was nice, but there were no staff around to top up the buffet (you had to ask!) and you help yourself the small paper plates and plastic cutlery - with an appropriately placed bin next to the buffet indicating to clean up your own table after use. This is not something i would expect for a 3 night stay $1500 (at the discounted rate) The restaurant closed 2/3 nights of our stay which we found out just before arriving, and 10% was offered in an email as a deduction to our room rate for this. However on check out - I had to ask if it had been applied - but of course - it hadn't! So a manual adjustment was needed. All the other staff were wonderful - especially George and another server in the restaurant - when the restaurant was open - the food was fantastic. The makings of something really wonderful here - just a few things that let it down.

I had high expectations for the Hasbrouck House. Unfortunately, after a long weekend stay I was not impressed. I will start off with my reservation for a massage. I was with a friend and wanting to book a massage at the same time but they could not accommodate because they only have one room for massages. Therefore, I had to cancel my appointment. Next is my yoga class, the instructor was really nice but unfortunately do to lack of communication with the front office, they kicked out out of the room because they booked a spa in that space. Next, towels, after several calls, there were no towels to be found. They informed me because it was a holiday weekend, they had no laundry service and had to do the towels on site; and they had problems with the dryer they had. Finally they delivered towels and needless to say when it was delivered by the front desk she was not very pleasant at all! Lastly, check out, after reviewing my request three times to charge a different card at check-out, they still used the original form of payment. I will not be returning to Hasbrouck House anytime soon. PS, I gave two stars because of location and maintenance of the grounds.

Originally booked in order to take advantage of a promotional deal. Come the week of the booking the promotion was removed from my stay. The ‘complimentary’ offer given was much less than the value I had booked on the basis of. I would avoid this place.

We came up for three nights for a nice getaway for my birthday. The time also happened to include Valentine's Day. The inn is beautifully & thoughtfully restored, maintaining many of the old & historic features, while successfully incorporating modern amenities. It's not cookie cutter, and we love that. Everyone on staff we encountered was friendly and helpful. Rooms are well appointed with nice touches like flowers & a handwritten welcome note. We ate two nights at Butterfield's - YUM! The Valentine's Dinner was perfection. Yes, it's located in a small hamlet with not much around, but Mohonk Preserve is not even 20 minutes to most trailheads, and New Paltz & Kingston aren't far at all. Looking forward to another stay in warmer weather when we can take advantage of the outdoors on the property.
