Kanapitsa Mare Hotel

Our stay was perfectly ok but some focus on attention to detail would have made such a difference with relatively little effort. Positives - The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout. Breakfast was first class, as were the breakfast team. Our room (303) was also exceptionally quiet, great view and not overlooked by anyone. Negatives - No glasses or kettle in our room. We asked for glasses twice, they never arrived. The overflow from the condenser on the air conditioner was never emptied (we did it ourselves) and next doors overflowed onto our balcony. Perhaps this could be on housekeeping’s list of jobs? The drains in the bathroom were particularly pungent, eye wateringly so overnight! The smell from the waste tank at the bottom of the drive was also most unwelcoming. Some tended planting in the flower beds and balcony planters would also make a real difference. Small things but easily remedied. That said, we had a fabulous holiday, thank you.

My Mum and I have been coming to this hotel for over 10 years and we can’t wait to return in 2024. The hotel is in a great location with a beautiful beach and several great tavernas within easy walking distance. There is a great bar, which serves the best drinks and cocktails, and there is a lovely clean pool, which is never overcrowded (bonus). There is an excellent selection of food at breakfast, and the rooms we have stayed in have always been clean with a stunning sea view. The hotel has recently refurbished several of the rooms - we stayed in one of these rooms last year and it was absolutely fantastic! The air conditioning unit was new and so were the beds, which were extremely comfortable. What really makes this hotel stand out is the staff, who are always so friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. Whenever we return to this hotel, we get the warmest welcome and feel as though we are coming home. See you soon! :-)

After reading reviews we were extremely concerned as this was our first holiday abroad since 2019. We were extremely surprised when we arrived to be greeted with extremely lovely efficient staff and a really lovely hotel. None of the horror stories that we had read just prior to our departure. A very warm welcome awaited us. Lovely clean spacious room, big comfy bed, lovely white sheets and super pillows. Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice each morning, beautifully supervised by the lovely bubbly Anastasia. Pool area was lovely with plenty of sun beds. Bar area next to pool expertly run by Marios and his team of lovely ladies. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for such a lovely holiday.

Superb views with stunning sunrise. Excellent air conditioning and very comfortable bed. Our first visit and would definitely book here again. Staff are fantastic and cannot do enough to help you. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Pool and bar great and food fantastic. Great position for bus stop or water taxi to Town. Close to sandy beaches and tavernas. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We were there in the first week of July just before the busier period on the island. It was quiet and relaxed and set just up the hill in Kanapista. You really have to take the time to appreciate the beautiful setting with views over the bay and peninsula, the lovely entrance hall, large swimming pool and terrace and bar area built into the mountain rocks, surrounded by pine trees. The breakfast is wide ranging up to 11 am which is great for lazy mornings. The staff are very friendly and keen to help with any issues. There were a couple of little things but these were easily sorted. The room was big enough with balcony views across the Aegean (recommended), an extremely comfortable bed and very efficient air conditioning. Kanapista has 2 beaches and we felt no need to travel wider with a brilliant beachside taverna (must visit) and a first class restaurant (Johnny’s) and just one supermarket. So much quieter and more chilled than many locations but enough atmosphere to keep you in tune. There is a hotel restaurant in its early stages of development which could benefit from some wider and more traditional Greek vegetarian options (meze) and perhaps some music evenings to boost the later evening vibes. There’s a bus service on the door stop for travelling across the island and an ace water taxi for getting to Skiathos town for more vibrant and energetic evenings if you want them. We were fully satisfied with all aspects of the location and the hotel and the whole experience. Ignore any negative reviews - highly recommended - we’ll be back. The lifts alone are unique - all very uplifting. 😀 Thanks to all staff. 😎

Ok but nothing special. Pool was unclean, I didn’t use it once and a pool is why I choose to go on holidays. We actually used pools in different hotels. Most of the staff seemed nice enough. Rooms weren’t clean and no safe provided. One of the cleaners left our balcony door open all day so there were bugs everywhere. No entertainment and zero atmosphere after 9pm. Location is good!

Mixed review for this hotel and in truth I am conflicted on how to review because it is a 'nice' hotel but could do better. I'll start with the positives: Firstly a big shout out to Anastasia and Mario who are the two members of staff that look after everybody, so helpful and friendly. Location of hotel is great. Very close to two good beaches, both with beds, waters ports, boat hire and restaurants etc but equally quiet, not rowdy. The number 12 bus stop is 2 minutes walk away, which was great to go in to Skiathos Town. Restaurants nearby, we particularly liked Lias. Lovely view from sea view room and the room was a decent size, I have stayed in smaller grecian rooms before. Now unfortunately the negatives that could be easily sorted: The pool area and pool need to be cleaned, the time we were there we did not see this cleaned once. There was lots of shale debris on the floor between sunbeds that could easily be swept up. The pool had lots of flies that could be scooped up with a net. Also lots of the debris from the poolside was visible along with leaves on the bottom of the pool, I have never stayed anywhere where pool and poolside are not looked after. This can be easily fixed with a bit of effort. I think the cleaning of rooms could be better, it was disappointing that our toilet was never cleaned. The shower curtain was unclean and the bath had tide marks on arrival. The toilet flush didn't work properly either, we reported our concerns to staff, who said we will report it but I doubt they will bother doing anything, for a staff member to know that would be the response was a shock and incidentally nothing changed. Breakfast is a mixed affair with positive and negatives. lots on offer, cereal, toast, fruit, yogurts, pastries and the usual bacon, sausage, eggs and beans - I have deliberately not said hot food because it wasn't, unfortunately it wasn't even warm. would be great if the food was hot to begin with or provide a microwave in the breakfast room so customers can warm it themselves. Overall the hotel was quiet and a laid back place to stay in a great location but some things should come as standard practice irrespective of how many stars they have, for example if offering hot breakfast it should be hot, the pool and area should be clean and clean toilets/bathrooms are not high expectations. It would be easy for hotel management to say you only have to ask, but not all customers are comfortable in asking and they shouldn't have to ask for things to be done that should come as standard. Or in our case we asked but nothing got done, very disappointing. I feel conflicted over this hotel, I liked it but could have really liked it and given a five star review if all the negatives were taken care of.

Absolutely dreadful hotel.no drinks available after 9pm that's if they had any.miles from shops so unable to buy in.staff extremely rude.breakfast disgusting.poolside was so ugly and shabby.i haven't one good thing to say about this hotel apart from jet 2 should get it off there holidays.
