Travelodge Okehampton Sourton Cross

I come and stay and this lodge every couple of years and when i came monday the reception lady was one of the rudest i have ever met barely acknowledged us and just slammed the key down and left the reception the lobby smelt odd until the late evening my room was dirty and clearly hadn’t been hoovered. Our last was better but unlikely to return. Andrew and Pat

A very basic hotel, quite clean, shabby not in a chic way, quiet & no traffic noise. Very cheap for Sunday night. Receptionist so rude it was funny - think Fawlty Towers. It has Burger King, Greg’s & luckily a small Waitrose close by - buy wine to drown your sorrows if you end up there. I wouldn’t want to stay there again.

Dirty carpets disgusting musky smell stained walls dirty fuzzy coat on kettle table sticky no soap in the Dispenser

The hotel is situated next to a very small A-road services. It is really peaceful after commuting hours. The building looks a little run down however, it was very clean. There is a Little Waitrose in the fuelling station and a Subway and Greggs (although Greggs shut at around 6pm) The staff were very friendly and overall it was good value for money. Perfect for a short stop-over.

A great little hotel. The beds are super comfortable, the rooms are a good size and the staff are very polite with lots of local knowledge. The hotel is situated in a great spot with very easy access back to the motorway but far enough away that you get zero traffic noise.

No light bulb in lamp Bits on floor No soap in hand wash Soap marks on shower wall Only 1 teabag and 1 sugar Bathroom Bin was so rusty Shower curtain dirty Top of tv dusty Bed very hard White stains on bed sides Rust and dirt on toilet base & floor Skirt board was dirty Stain on carpet Nut shells under the desk Receptionist never even looked at us to check us in, she just said are you here to check in what’s your name and address still not looking at us, couldn’t get a name because she never looked at us. I’m a supervisor of a travelodge up North and this wasn’t my expectations, I was expecting the same level of cleanliness as our hotel and certainly better customer service, or even the same customer service I expect our staff give out to our guests.

On arrival there was a group of non English speaking men smoking & drinking lager on the path to Lodge. They were there at various times, night & day. Our room was next to reception & it was like being in a thoroughfare. Also noises from rooms above. On a positive, it was one of the cleanest Travelodge's we have stayed in & staff were polite & friendly. BUT will not be staying at Sourton Travelodge again!

Kelly and her staff were excellent, very helpful and welcoming but the building is very tired. Travelodge please invest in the property to give your excellent staff a facility they deserve
