This small family-owned and run country hotel in North Suffolk was once a rural public house; today, it has been sympathetically renovated and still retains its historic charm and character. Carefully refurbished and sensitively restored, the Auberge offers charming accommodation with modern comforts and facilities alongside beautifully preserved original features. All of the rooms provide an excellent level of comfort, with exposed wooden beams and rich, stylish furniture. The restaurant still features the original beamed partitions and walls. Once a country pub providing simple food and drink for locals, the restaurant now offers superb food and great wines in cosy, traditional surroundings. Located midway between Ipswich and Norwich, the Auberge is a great base from which to visit and explore Cambridge, Newmarket, the Suffolk and Norfolk coasts and all of East Anglia. The nearby market town of Diss is 6.5 km away.Show More

We stayed in this hotel for one night when attending a family party nearby. I really can’t fault it. Lovely helpful staff, excellent service, large comfortable room, super breakfast included. Plus ample parking. Thank you all for an enjoyable stay.

The hotel and hotel staff were absolutely lovely, so helpful. Our bedroom and bathroom were spacious and very comfortable with a four poster bed, tea and coffee facilities in the room. The food was delicious and varied. We will definitely stay here again when next in the area.

This is our favourite hotel in the UK. Our 3rd visit exceeded our expectations from the warm welcome from Jake, the service, food and extremely comfortable room. It was such a pleasure knowing the hotel is run by such a friendly family who manage to make you feel so welcome in such a professional manner. The chef was very clever in the way he cooked the food, making use of the fabulous garden products ( thanks to Jake’s Mum), the meals were served in a Michelin Star manner. Thank you all, we will be back.

This was our second visit to the Bull Auberge (having first visited in Jan 2023), and we enjoyed it every bit as much as our wonderful first stay. Jake and Katy are really warm and incredibly welcoming hosts and work tirelessly to make sure guests have a great stay. The rooms are comfy, relaxing and amazingly quiet. And the food is delicious and imaginative, with plenty of options. The veggie garden, fantastically looked after by Jake’s mum, is a joy to behold and ensures that the restaurant serves its own home grown food. Indeed, the use of local produce and ethos of minimising waste are very impressive. Jake and Katy richly deserve all the praise they are getting, and we very much look forward to our next visit - we will certainly be returning soon.

We stayed overnight for our anniversary, we had a beautiful deluxe double with 4 poster bed, Nespresso machine was a welcome touch. We enjoyed a few drinks from the well stocked bar when we arrived made all the better for the glorious weather in the garden area. Room was comfortable, well stocked toiletries, and although on quite a busy road we couldn’t hear anything in our room. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Would highly recommend!

Yet again The Auberge excels!! It is very difficult to find fault as there is none. The food is excellent, so too the staff. Go there to experience it for yourself.......

A local company recommended the Auberge and although a little off the beaten track for my normal travel, it's well worth the 15-minute deviation. All in all a pleasant experience, clean and spacious, a well-equipped room in a peaceful setting, good food, and an attentive host. Value for money; I would take the extra travel time and miles if working in the area again.
