The Darling

The only thing i did not like, you could not open the windows, added tax I was not expecting. I did not ask for any thing, but noticed you have to pay for a toothbrush, etc. if you forgot yours. The room was beautiful, very high ceilings, the bathroom is unique,very art deco touch. Unique property.

The only unfortunate part is the walls are thin. I can hear everything. Sucks it’s on a popular road.

Service was excellent, the room clean and comfy, the 4th floor restaurant just wonderful. However, at arrival you have to climb up one level to get to the reception, and the elevator only goes up to the 3rd floor, so if you want to eat at the restaurant, you have to climb up one floor. The Sunday brunch was wonderful. We only got seat at the patio but there were space heaters. We could have used some blankets though. If you want to have dinner or breakfast at their restaurant, which apparently is managed independently from the hotel, you’ll have to make a reservation way ahead of time. All in all a great stay.

A unique hotel worth staying, but probably only once. I’ve been here three times, and this would be the last time. Inconvenience to get in and out of the parking lot (gated) and the hotel entrance (no parking on the front and also have to go up the stairs from both back and front entrances. There’s an elevator from the back entrance to the lobby). Not sure if it’s worth the money, but my husband likes it, and also the restaurant on the rooftop, Elderwood, and the restaurant “Pita Kabob”and the adjacent mini-mart across the street.

A lovely boutique hotel that is located close to many downtown amenities - it feels like a little piece of a metropolitan getaway. The room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at The Darling Hotel from Thursday, November 23 to Saturday, November 25. While the hotel initially appeared as picturesque as depicted in its online photographs, the reality of my experience was far from satisfactory. Upon arrival in my room, I was immediately struck by the immense noise from the passing cars, a consequence of the room's single-glazed windows. The sound level on the ground floor was extraordinarily loud, akin to standing directly on a highway. When I addressed this issue with the reception, they offered a room on the opposite side of the hotel. However, this room still bordered the street and, while the traffic noise was somewhat reduced, it remained disturbingly loud. My first night's sleep was severely disrupted. The hotel's downtown Visalia location is in close proximity to several nightclubs, which operate until 2-3 AM. The inadequate sound insulation of the single-glazed windows allowed the nightclub noise to permeate my room, making it impossible to sleep until the early hours of the morning. This is an unacceptable situation for a 4-star hotel, where guests expect and deserve a peaceful environment. Furthermore, the lack of proper insulation meant that I had to keep the air conditioning and heating on at all times to maintain a comfortable room temperature, which is both environmentally unfriendly and inconvenient for guests.

It was extremely clean and the staff were very welcoming, they were extremely helpful and happy to help. The rooms are perfect, they have everything you need

The room was quiet and the bed very comfortable. I like how private the rooms are. The shower in this room feels like a water fall so good. If you want to walk or drive 2 blocks you find stores, restaurants and bars.

The darling hotel is, well…as described DARLING!! I love that they kept so many of the historical elements intact. There is definitely a great vibe here. The staff are all super helpful and friendly. The rooftop restaurant is so charming. The outdoor pool area looks relaxing. My only concern is the noise between rooms. Whomever was Nextdoor had their TV on and it sounded like it was on in our room. But, other than that I had a great nights sleep. Bed was comfy and the cleanliness was appreciated.
