Tangpo Hot Spring Resort

This hotel suffers from a significant disconnect between its management and the quality of its staff. I certainly won't be back, which is a real shame because the service staff themselves were quite good. Let's start with management. When I arrived, I was told the hotel was fully booked, even though I saw rooms available on Ctrip. Not wanting to find another place, I booked directly through Ctrip on the spot. After some back and forth, they finally managed to check me in. After checking in, I couldn't find any hotel service guide anywhere. I had no idea how to access or use facilities like the swimming pool or gym. When I tried to call the front desk, I discovered the in-room phone wasn't even connected! I had to call the front desk *again* via Ctrip's phone service, only to be told the pool was located within the hot springs area, which required an additional fee. Since my booking wasn't a package deal, I couldn't even pay the difference to use it. So, I just gave up on the idea of swimming. The next morning, after my run, I found myself navigating a maze-like floor, trying to find my way back. There were no clear directional signs in the corridors, no phones on any floor to contact the front desk, and absolutely no staff in sight to ask for directions. Once back in my room, when I went to wash my hair, I discovered the shampoo bottles were empty – and hadn't been replaced. The in-room phone, which was disconnected last night, still hadn't been fixed, making it incredibly inconvenient. I had to rush through getting ready and head out. And these were just a few of the many small details: no sheer curtains, outdated power outlets, and old, tired toiletries were prevalent throughout the room. For a room costing over 500 RMB in the Wendeng area, this was utterly shocking and a huge letdown. On the positive side, the service staff were genuinely enthusiastic and helpful. For instance, they managed to locate my husband's forgotten power bank and even arranged to send it back via courier (cash on delivery, of course). Their attitude was consistently good. It's a tragedy that such good staff are wasted under this kind of management.

Everything was excellent! The facilities were great, cleanliness was top-notch, the environment was pleasant, and the service was excellent. I would definitely come back again if I have the chance.

This is an older, expansive hotel that gives off a wonderfully secluded and 'away from it all' vibe. The outdoor hot springs have smaller, more intimate pools which were very comfortable. However, the layout and 'flow' of the facilities felt quite peculiar; the changing rooms, showers, and restrooms were all inconveniently arranged. The hotel also features a lake, perfect for a leisurely stroll.

Facilities: The hotel's facilities are dated. The chairs in the room and the bed linen were dirty. The balcony door was stuck and couldn't be opened, and no complimentary bottled water was provided in the room. Environment: The location is quite isolated, with no amenities or conveniences in the surrounding area. Service: The route from the front desk to the room felt like a maze, and there was absolutely no staff guidance. I specifically booked this hotel for its hot springs/bathing facilities, only to be told during check-in that they incurred a separate charge, and what's worse, there was no option to even pay extra to access them!

The cleanliness was terrible. There were bloodstains on the sheets, and the toilet hadn't been cleaned at all. I only stayed because there were no other hotels nearby and I had several children with me; otherwise, I absolutely would have left! After checking in, we had to wait until past 11 PM for the room to be re-cleaned, which delayed the children's bedtime. However, the manager had a very good attitude and sent over dolls and fruit the next morning. Despite that, 2 out of our 3 rooms were still not up to par when it came to cleanliness. In the children's room, when we lifted the pillows, they were full of hair. Quite disappointed, I won't be staying here again.

The room was quite spacious and came with a balcony. It was very convenient to be able to head straight back to the room after a hot spring soak. For dinner, we ordered a few dishes at Quanjude, including a large *huajuan* (steamed twisted roll). It was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Shandong's large steamed buns and *huajuan* are truly a delight for my taste buds! The hotel seems to have been built quite a while ago, so the furniture was a bit dated. However, the service and the views were still excellent.
