There are lots of good things about this hotel. Great location on the lakes, excellent spa, good food. The breakfast room is a lovely space and well run even at peak times. The big downer is the money-first approach encountered quite frequently. A good hotel at this level focuses on giving good service, and then discreetly lets you know about the cost. Here, the staff seem to be primed to get your money before looking after anything. It’s not their fault individually, it feels like a policy thing. A couple of examples: you have to pay in full at check-in. You can’t sign anything to your room unless you’ve added and authorised a card (unlikely given they want you to pay in full at check-in). Good coffees are not included in the breakfast cost. There are no room service menus, and when you ask at the desk the first thing they tell you when you ask what’s available is how much much extra you’ll have to pay. It all makes a good hotel feel like a much cheaper one. A couple of other small things: the phone in our room didn’t work at all. The mattresses are very soft. So are the towels, which is good! The TV setup is good too. The balconies could do with a wash.
