we had a four night stay booked. we were given our room key and was told it was at the top of the hotel. when we got to our room I needed to use the loo, flipped the light switch and nothing happened. Tried the shaving light and again nothing. After a few minute's my husband turned the main light on in the bedroom and that turned on every light, including the bathroom fan. A little bit worrying if one of needed to get up in the night. So popped downstairs for a quick drink and to let someone know about the lights and the very wobbly bed. we were told that it would be sorted ( although nothing could be done about the bed ), and it was to a fashion, the shaving light was replaced, and got the hang of what switch turned what light on. At one point the bathroom fan constantly. But we thought as only for a few night's no big problem. What was a problem though was the loo rising and overflowing all over the bathroom floor , which ment wet feet and soaked bath mat. We had to get dressed and go downstairs to use the loo. Someone was at reception so I vented my frustration about it, the outcome was we were offered another room. I also told him that I wasn't willing to pay the full price for the room, as we had had so many issues with it .At nearly £90.000 per night you do expect better. The rest of our stay was fine, the food was very good, although as said before hotel is very dated. At check out I was disgusted to be told that the owner was only willing to knock off £10.00 of the total bill !!. Very good customer service. Another warning if you have visiting guess, their drinks gets added to your room bill. when I questioned this I was told to ring my family and friends and work out the cost of their drink and they could pay by card over the phone ! At no time were we asked if the drinks were to go on our bill. No one understood why I had a problem with that happening. ( I have worked in hotel's and you don't just add / take for granted that everyone's drinks goes on the room bill ).
