We got married at Abel’s Harp on Saturday and had the most amazing time. The food was fantastic, the views were unbelievable and the staff were great. Highly recommend! Big shout out to Jade for being fantastic from the moment we looked around until the end! Thank you

We booked through wowcher. No shops in walking distance so take up what u will need. The lady on reception was very nice and got us booked in the hot tub you get time slots (not every one followed them) and served us drinks from the bar. Our lil shed had bed, lights and heater. There was also tea facilities but had an awful taste not sure if was the kettle. We missed the feeding alpacas as wasn’t told the time and we left early the next day, we should have asked to. We had the pizza night in the restaurant and was lovely again the same women that served us. The afternoon tea was nice to and came in one of the unusual tea pots around the restaurant. The women’s bathroom facilities was fine however the men’s string was broke to switch the shower on. Could do with maybe one toilet up the top as I defo wouldn’t walk down to the toilet on my own 😂 was quite dark and down a small path way and back in to the hotel.

I stayed for one night at Abel’s harp for a friends hen do, after looking at the website before I arrived at the facility I was expecting it to be a nice little get away and was looking forward to it. Upon arriving, I was shocked to find that the ‘glamping pods’ were at the top of a very steep hill, getting to the top of this very steep hill with a suitcase and bags was not a fun experience at all and I’m glad I didn’t bring high heels, upon entering the ‘pod’ which was more like a garden shed I was shocked to discover how small it was and how dirty it was. The pod looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned for months, the mugs provided were full of dust and the decor was poor. The whole pod needed decorating and the wall decor was barely hanging on by a thread. I will be surprised if the bedding was even changed from the last guests who stayed here. I then asked where the toilets were and was told they were in the main building, which was a trek down the steep hill. This automatically put me in a bad mood and would be terrible for anyone who has incontinence problems or mobility issues. There was also no sink or running water provided. In 2024, you at least expect some kind of sanitisation. During the nighttime, around 3:30am, I had to get up to use the toilet, the hill to get to the toilets was pitch black and if you don’t have a torch on your phone you would not be able to see a thing, the pods were also freezing during the night and all you can hear is the wind outside, at one point although we shut the pod doors, the doors flung open during the night due to the wind. The facilities inside the main building were ok but again, everything was caked in dust and looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The staff were lovely and helpful but overall I wouldn’t stay here again even if you paid me. The food was ok but the lack of cleanliness put me off. In the morning you couldn’t even have a wash, due to no water. I had to travel home in the previous nights make up and couldn’t wait to have a shower when I got home. Never again will I do any sort of ‘glamping’ and I would never recommend staying here, I would be absolutely gutted if my own hen do or wedding was hosted here!

On the 30th March, we had the pleasure of getting married at Abel’s Harp and it was simply perfect. Right for when we booked it, the staff were amazing. Big shout out to Jade who helped us through all the initial booking and making plans. We were adamant we wanted a relaxed vibe for our wedding and seemed like we couldn’t find the place that could offer us this until we found this jem! Nothing was too much trouble, and anything we asked if they could do it they would. Roll onto the day, and we also stayed the night before and it was just perfect. Little details was so kind, as we had little facemasks, cakes and chocolates in our room and all of our guests rooms which just make it that extra bit special. If you asked me to imagine how I wanted our perfect wedding day to be, it was exactly this. Big big big shout out to Claudia and Jordyn who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. We simply had nothing to worry about at all on the day, as they took it on themselves to make sure it was as stress free as possible which I can’t say thank you enough for. They made sure that everything was exactly how we wanted it, always checking in to see if we was ok and putting us at ease. The food was simply delicious. The meal on the night before was beautiful! Our wedding meal and grazing table was stunning. Everyone commented on how lovely the food was. I honestly cannot thank everyone enough at Abel’s harp for such a perfect day. All our guests left saying how amazing the venue was and how beautiful the day was. Thank you so so much! ❤️

I sent a private email to the owners stating our concerns about this venue in November 2023. Despite my patience and prompting, I have still not received a response. Never wishing to publicly declare my thoughts about the experiences which caused us a great deal of stress, I feel that I am given no choice as we are now in March 2024. Extracts from our letter in November, 2023. Hi. I am contacting you directly rather than posting a review as I have some unfavourable comments to make about our stay with you and I think it only fair to give you an opportunity to respond privately to our concerns. Firstly, I hope that the flooding that you were dealing with when we left was stopped and cleared up in time for the wedding which you were hosting yesterday. We did feel very sorry for you and your situation on that day. But in terms of our experience overall, we did have concerns which I hope you will consider as you plan improvements moving forwards. 1. The communication prior to our stay was very poor. Emails and phone calls were not answered and we arrived with many questions still to be answered including the status of our booking, the room type and add ons included with our voucher. This provided us with little confidence and low expectation of our stay from the very start. 2. On arrival we found that facilities sadly did not match the online description of Abel’s Harp which was quite deceiving. For instance, we were led to believe that the glamping pods had closer toilet facilities and private hot tubs which would be of high quality. There was also no mention of the poorly lit path and steep hill between the main building and the pods. In addition, toiletries would normally include shower gel. No breakfast was provided as was promised to us before we retired for the night. 3. However, our main concern was the poor state of repair of some parts of the building and the lack of cleanliness especially n relation to the stair carpet which smelled of cats and caused my allergy to flair. I could give further examples but I can see from some of your responses to reviews that you are quite easily offended. Despite the chaos which we found on arrival due to a flood in the kitchen, Andy and the young lady on reception tried their best to be helpful offering food and changing facilities. However, we left feeling embarrassed for the young lady who clearly is used to using stock phrases in response to visitors complaints. We wish that working at Abel’s Harp can become a source of pride for her and others in the future. To be honest, we were glad to leave. We did not leave rested and refuelled but with an uncomfortable feeling that remained with us for the following 24 hours. Being the people that we are , at one point we wanted to offer to help sort the place out and clean the rooms for the Wedding guests arriving that day and then we realised that our hosts should be there to look after us and not the other way around. We acknowledge that the st

Spent the day at Abels Harp as part of the wedding party for a wedding this past weekend. I will prefix this by saying that the venue is located in a lovely place, most of staff were lovely and did try everything they could to make it nice day for everyone, you can see why this place has good reviews from it's styling and charm and to a point the bride and groom were enjoying their day. However, given how the day went you couldn't help but feel the venue wasn't prepared to host a wedding that weekend based off the following points; 1. On the Friday night the bridal party arrived and the venue had no gas, as it hadn't been paid, which meant the staff had to source little heaters for the rooms due to how cold it was. 2. The food schedule was; main meal at 15:00 (which they did and I will say was nice) and then pizzas at 18:00 followed by a buffet at 20:00-20:30. However the pizza's where served with the buffet which was served late at 21:30 and only had 2 pizzas! This was for a wedding with 80-100 guests! 3. As mentioned, the main meal (hot pork baps) was nice, however the glasses weren't set on the table for the speech toasts and were being passed around during the speeches and were a mix of glasses, like they didn't have enough flutes for the 70 guests attending the day. 4. The bar had ran out of draft alcohol at 19:00 and then cans and bottles around 21:00, the groom had spoken to the manager who had said 'it's not her problem and we've just drank too much' this would of been understandable if it was large number of guests or had been later in the evening, however the guests were no more than 100 and a good number of these been children. Another quote from the manager was 'we can get you 30 more cans for the rest of the evening' at 21:00, which clearly wouldn't be sufficient. Many of the spirits ran out also due to people moving onto them after no other alcohol being available, along with some mixers. As mentioned earlier this really felt they weren't equipped for a wedding this weekend. This really was shame because the ceremony itself was really nice along with the reception before the main meal and speeches. However by the end of the night the bride was upset and the groom was understandably frustrated due to having to chase staff and the manager throughout the evening.

Travelled for 2 hours tonight to stay at Abel's Harp having booked this a month ago and receiving confirmation. When we arrive, I was pitch black and clearly not open We knocked on a nearby door and the owner said he hadn't seen anyone there for the past wea ek. We were not phoned, emailed or contacted by any means by the owners. A four hours wasted drive on a Friday night after a busy week st work was not appreciated.

Claudia you were amazing, from takings us to see the alpacas to saving the registrars stuck in the snow. The food was fantastic, I had so many compliments from both the wedding breakfast and the buffet, I'm sure some asked for more as they enjoyed it so much. The cake... wow it was the best cake I've had. The venue was beautiful inside and out everything was so clean. My guests who stayed in the huts said they were amazing. My day was absolutely perfect even if we didn't manage to get married outside infront of the lovely views we did manage to get married in SNOW!! The first snow wedding at Abels! Myself & my husband would like to say a huge thank you to the whole team at Abels Harp it was just perfect 🥰🥰

Our wedding at Abel’s harp was fab! We had the weather against us ( in July ), we were adamant we wanted it outside in the perfectly picturesque surroundings that we fell in love with but the guys did such an amazing job last minute in setting up the room indoors, that it was even better! They can’t do enough for you, so understanding of kids ( boys ) being kids, jade even helped with my dress! It’s stressful arranging a wedding and Lisa and Anna couldn’t have done more to help, advice given on everything ( even not pertaining to the venue sometimes ) was second to none, the flowers supplied were out of this world and the whole day had the family feel that we had longed for. Huge thank you to all of you for making our day special xx 😘
