Constantinou Bros Athena Royal Beach Hotel

We had a fantastic seven night stay at the Athena Royal Beach Hotel with friends and we were fortunate to have great weather with temperatures around 23/24 degrees every day. We stayed in a Superior Deluxe room on the Ultra All Inclusive Plan which gave us access to another breakfast buffet restaurant with a later closing time, unlimited visits to the a-la-carte restaurant Aphrodite and premium alcoholic drinks which worked very well for us. The hotel is extremely well appointed with plenty of food and drink options, lots of space around the hotel and pools and plenty to do if you want to be active. The room we booked had everything that we needed including a well stocked mini bar and was very well appointed and maintained. The Pygmalion buffet restaurant for both breakfast and evening meals we all agreed was excellent. There was plenty of choice for both hot and cold options, plates and the food were always hot and the quality of food on offer was very high. Likewise, Aphrodite restaurant was equally as good and we had three very nice evening meals there. Unfortunately, Olive Tree restaurant wasn't open for evening meals whilst we were there but we had lunch there most days which we enjoyed and there was plenty of choices on the lunch-time menu. We enjoyed the food and drinks so much that we didn't feel it necessary to go out for any meals or drinks although we may have done so if we were staying longer than one week. The drinks menu in the hotel was extensive with plenty of premium brands on offer, an extensive cocktail menu and a good choice of wines on the Ultra All Inclusive plan. Without exception, the staff that we encountered working in the restaurants, the bars and around the pool were all friendly, polite and hardworking and a credit to the hotel. The evening entertainment consisted of different singers/musicians which we found some to be very good (Elvis impersonator) and others ok but the song choices were good and we enjoyed most of the performances as did the other guests. The Roof Top Bar opened a couple of days after we arrived and was a great addition for a pre dinner drink provided the weather wasn't to 'windy'..... We booked three rounds of golf through the hotel (Elea x1, Minthis x2) as they offered us a small discount on the green fees when booking through them. We arranged our own transfers and used Andy's Taxi's who we would highly recommend as they were very friendly, flexible and on time! The only areas we think could be improved upon are the television channel options in the room. The English channels, sport and films were very poor and could do with upgrading. The hotel would also benefit from putting together some better 'golf packages' for guest's which could potentiallly bring in more business to the hotel.... Well where to start Can safely say we have been to many hotels all across Europe and beyond This is by far the best Every attention to detail has been made From a fantastic sea view room with a fully stocked mini bar to complimentary wine and fruit on arrival We were all inclusive which gave us Unlimited access to the a la carte restaurant Which we frequented almost every evening The staff were attentative and delightful the food was exceptional This also applied to the other restaurants on the complex An easy walk into paphos where there are numerous bars and restaurants if you fancy a change (about 20min) The last evening we were brought a complimentary bottle of champagne which is a fantastic touch In summary can't fault this place it idyllic peaceful and a wonderful experience Well done everyone at athena Royal with our gratitude and thanks

Fabulous holiday enjoyed in a beautiful hotel right on the promenade with stunning views out to sea. Adults only with a tranquil, sophisticated scene. Guests were mainly in their retirement years & the hotel a**osphere & day/night entertainment program & music was geared towards this. Perfect for us but worth a mention if you wanted something with a younger vibe. We had a classic room, all inclusive. The room was just about big enough for 2, it was clean & bed comfortable & had every thing you could need even an iron. If you like a bit more space definitely consider upgrading to a suite. Room decor was a bit dated compared to a more modern hotel & at night we struggled to control the temperature in the room finding it too cold with aircon & too hot with the balcony door open there didn’t seem to be much control over the temperature with the aircon on but could be user error! TV I could only find 2 channels in English, both news ones, not a major issue obviously as we were on holiday. The food was all delicious, we didn’t need to eat out once, it was the best food I’ve ever had on holiday (& I’m fussy) from the buffet breakfast & dinner to the lunch by the pool. You must try the Dish of the Day self service at lunch although leave some room for dinner it’s easy to get carried away it was all so delicious! All inclusive was fantastic, there were a few things not included such as champagne, spa trea**ents etc but we never felt we missed out & had everything we wanted, breakfast, lunch, dinner, ice creams, coffees, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, Prosecco by the glass, cocktails I could go on & on check out owed nothing so well worth the extra we definitely got our monies worth. Sun loungers were comfortable with cushions & we never struggled to find one in a good spot. Lovely long towels for the loungers were provided in your room & changed on request. Some of the umbrellas were broken though so had to be swapped out for a working one so these could do with some attention. Waiters were on hand to serve drinks & they were always served with a big smile. In fact all of the staff were so friendly & eager to please, too many to mention by name but the hotel should be proud of its staff they are definitely an asset. Evening entertainment was in the form of a singer/duo most nights which seemed to fit the mood & clientele of the hotel. Evenings tended to wind up around 11pm & all you could hear at night was the ocean, bliss! We enjoyed some lovely walks along the promenade both ways & had a look at all the other hotels & can honestly say this hotel was the best one. Will definitely return!

This adults only hotel was a fantastic find ! Our flight was delayed which meant we didn’t arrive til late and obviously missed our first evening meal , which was disappointing(not the hotels fault). We checked in swiftly and arrived in our room. 3rd floor side sea view , which was lovely. Tea/coffee/kettle,toiletries,large make up mirror in the bathroom, hairdryer,iron & ironing board. A bowl of fresh fruit ,bottled water and a bottle of wine , which was a nice surprise. The hotel do seem to have thought of everything. The bed was especially comfy ,as were the pillows. The morning after we went to the reception to enquire about the bus service . We were given 2 complimentary vouchers for lunch (due to the fact that we had missed our evening meal )- this was excellent customer service as we didn’t mention the fact we had missed our evening meal. We were on a half board basis and the food was spot on. The breakfast had everything you could possibly need and the evenibuffet was a delight . Every evening there was a speciality section (Italian/Chinese etc), along with a carvery with at least 2 different joints of meat, as well as a selection of other meats, fish ,potatoes,veg etc and the desserts were delicious . When going to hotels with a buffet , we always book to go into the al a carte restaurants , but because the buffet food was so nice we didn’t feel the need to go Al a carte! Beach towels are in the room and replaced each day. There are loads of sun beds - so no dashing early-doors to put towels on them ! The hotel leads to a promenade which is flat and about 20/ 30 min walk to the harbour which has some nice coffee shops & cafes as well as a few souvenir shops . The area around the hotel itself is sp**** - just a few pubs & a couple of restaurants - but due to the fact the hotel us so lovely this isn’t a problem . The evening entertainment in the hotel is very low key - a singer or a duo in the main bar and occasional other activities ie quiz, bingo, ****** night in the main function room . All the staff were brilliant - friendly , helpful and really couldn’t do enough for you . Jet2 carry out a checking in service in the lobby of the hotel which is great as the cases are taken to the airport for you , so on arriving at the airport to depart , you simply go straight through passport control without having to bother checking in your luggage We had a very chilled and much needed rest and we would highly recommend this hotel . We don’t usually return to the same place , but I would definitely consider returning to this beautiful hotel

My husband and I arrived home last week from a fabulous 2 week holiday at this hotel. The staff were excellent. A special mention must be made of the deputy hotel manager Andreas Frantzeskou who is a real asset to the company. He was always around except on Wednesdays, his day off. He was a very interesting person and always was around asking if everything was ok especially in the evening when he would go around speaking to everyone. The food was superb especially for me as it was always hot. We dined in the a la carte restaurant each night except 3 evenings and the staff there were very attentive. Best dessert there was the lava cake. The rooms were spacious and the sea view was lovely. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for five star trea**ent. A good hotel with great staff. Nice if smallish room but very clean and tidy with very obliging and helpful cleaners. Good position on the seafront within an easy walk to Paphos. Buses to the town ran from just outside the hotel to the town with many onward buses available to other areas. Drink were expensive though. Buffet restaurant was ok, lots of choice but did get a bit repetative after a week. Lovely restaurants in the port though and all good value. A good child free hotel.

This was one of many visits to Athena Royal over the years and our 4th floor junior suite was excellent as ever, serviced by the lovely La Li (hope we spelt that correctly), each day to the usual high standard. Since our last visit there is a new Duty Manager called Andreas. He is extremely friendly and goes out of his way to engage with everyone. He is truly an asset to the hotel. We met many regular staff again, too numerous to mention, but all were friendly and efficient and greeted us warmly like old friends. Food as ever was excellent as was the cleanliness of the whole hotel. We are back again in October and would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Paphos.

Had a wonderful chilled week away, weather very pleasant for March too. Excellent facilities with use of the sister hotel next door also. Other half even had her first attempt at bowls (thanks Ann & Trevor). Bit of a walk to town centre but plenty of pubs & restaurants nearby. Can highly recommend.

So disappointed with this allegedly 4* hotel. The main hotel was very nice but classic rooms are so outdated and desperately in need of an upgrade. The showers and bathrooms are particularly in need of refurbishment. We paid for a sea view but one of our rooms on floor one was like looking at a concrete jungle. They did get another room but the design of the hotel means you do get a sea view but you are blinkered by the hideous concrete balconies. I’d like to know where all these lovely staff were that people talk about , as most of the staff we came across were bordering on the rude! The nicest staff were the youngsters working the bar on the roof terrace. That was our favourite place as the entertainment was dreadful and obviously catered to the mainly over 75 year old guests. We paid a lot for this hotel and we were all bitterly disappointed! I don’t usuallly bother with reviews but we were so unhappy with this hotel we felt it was needed. I very much doubt I’d go back!
