Settlers House York

I arrived quite late and the check in process was fast. Check out is also easy.

No wifi ! Not acceptable in this day and age ! No room service ! ( as in nobody available ) Had we known the hotel, as in bar restaurants and reception was closed during our stay we would not have booked. Room adequate, but below the standard we expected, whilst it was clean the room lacked normal motel/ hotel facilities. Although billed as a hotel it is in fact more of a motel with public parking close to some rooms. Location good, obviously used by a lot of contractors. Would NOT book again if in the area.

Mum and I had a great 3 days staying at Settlers House. We were in one of the Heritage rooms in the rear Courtyard and it was perfect spot. The room was clean, beds comfortable and very homely. Staff where amazing and its was a very busy weekend with the York Show on but nothing was too much for them and they went above and beyond to accomodate everyone. The Outside Entertainement was brilliant the Jukes of York and the certainly pulled in the crowd. Such an amazing atmosphere at Settlers, the meals are delicious and the Pub is brilliant. York is a beautiful Town with soo much History and we will return. If you ever go to York i highly recommend Settlers House for your Accomodation

The units are part of an historic area of York and have a good quality of character about them. The complex has a country hotel as part of the facilities. Great place to have a good country pub meal, with Guinness on tap. Can't do much better than that. The unit was pretty spacious but could have done with a bit of a smarten up. Great location to explore the surrounding area. Set right in the heart of the main street of York.

Check-in was easy, and we were welcomed, that much I can not fault. Later on, we were there at 5.30pm to book a meal and found that we were waiting for roughly 10 minutes so that they could sort out a financial issue with an unhappy customer. I am pleased to say we were slightly acknowledged, but nothing was done to improve the situation. Meanwhile, people were lining up behind us, watching the same drama unfold. I see the place needs much better management than it is receiving. Considering there are over 100 rooms in this place. It's scary to think what could happen if they had a full house. The complaint from one that we overheard was basically, in my opinion, fair Cause for concern. For starters, there were ants in the customers' room, and they were also in ours. Another complaint we heard was that there was no hot water, which we also found out later on, so we had no hot water, and we had ants in the room. We were also quite relieved that the weather was quite mild. Therefore, the swimming pool that was completely out of service and looks like it has been that way for a very long time would have been a waste of time. We were both gobsmacked about the management side. Where there was nobody on the premises. Who could authorise a refund at the time? Which meant the customers who we were waiting behind. We're going to get no further than they already had. And they would probably have to wait till the next business day, which was several days. Why before they could be paid. It would have made more sense to have taken the customer aside and got their details and explained everything that need to be explained. Meanwhile, still being able to serve customers who had been waiting patiently. And to top it off, you could only order your meal at one counter and your drinks at another one. I would stay here again but only if I knew they had made some significant changes to improve the experience.

Stayed here on one of the hottest days on record in Perth (Feb 9th) Aircon in the room was so icy cool though and the beds were comfortable! The meal we had at the restaurant was delicious and so filling! There was some local live music on too. York is such an underrated little spot not far from Perth and Settler's House is great comfort and value for money if you want to stay right in town.
