"The family room amenities were severely lacking. I forgot to take a picture of the bathroom, but it was incredibly small – the toilet stall was like something out of an airplane, and the shower was tiny too. The room itself was long and narrow. Instead of two chairs where they could have fit, there were two beanbag chairs. The 1.5-meter bed didn't feel like 1.5 meters, and there were no nightstands; the charging plug had to go on the floor. There was no bar or coffee table; the cups and tea bags were just placed on top of the mini-fridge. Hotel parking isn't free, costing $25, unless you park on the street, but then you have to move your car by 9:30 AM. The bottom bunk of the bunk bed was so low you couldn't sit up without hitting your head. The breakfast, however, was decent. Check-out is before 10 AM, and breakfast ends at 10:30 AM at the latest."

"We had a wonderful stay at Novotel Christchurch Airport.
The location is unbeatable — literally just a short walk from the airport terminal, making it incredibly convenient, especially for travellers with young children. We stayed for one night with our toddler as we had an early morning flight the next day, and it was the perfect choice. Being able to rest properly without worrying about airport transfers made our journey so much smoother.
The room was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped for our family. Everything was clean and thoughtfully laid out, giving us a relaxing stay before our flight.
The staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay. A special mention to the concierge team, who kindly gifted our toddler a cute little Kiwi bird plushie. It was such a thoughtful gesture and brought a huge smile to his face. Small touches like these really make a difference and leave a lasting impression.
Overall, we had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. Great service, fantastic location, and family-friendly hospitality. We would definitely stay here again the next time we’re in Christchurch."

"The room was spacious and well-equipped with pots, a range hood, and a toaster. Booking early definitely saved me some money compared to booking 3-4 days before.
The hotel's location is excellent, and the surroundings are beautiful (P2, P3). It's in the heart of Christchurch, a 5-minute walk from the Avon River, and about 10-15 minutes on foot to the botanical garden entrance. I also walked to the city's bus interchange. For the airport, you can take bus routes 8 or 29, which is also about an 8-minute walk away.
The front desk staff seemed to be Indian, and communication in English was smooth. Ctrip recommended I change my room type booking to get the lowest total price for two consecutive nights, but this might have required me to switch rooms the next morning. I spoke with the front desk, and she patiently helped me stay in the higher-priced room for both nights (without having to switch rooms); I just needed to reactivate my key card the next morning.
After 10:30 PM, the hotel's front desk is unstaffed. If you check in too late, they will leave your room key in a coded box outside the main entrance and send the code to your email.
The only minor issue is that a casino in Christchurch is right next to the hotel (P1), about a 5-minute walk away. However, the security at night is actually quite good (P4) – it's livelier than Auckland at night. I wandered around until 8:30 PM and didn't see anyone who was drunk on my way back to the hotel."

"The best thing about this Haka in Christchurch is its super close proximity to the Botanic Gardens. Basically, you just cross the street and you're there. As for cleanliness, it's neither outstanding nor bad. The triple room had a bunk bed plus a single bed, with the single bed facing the window. Compared to other Haka accommodations, the layout here felt a bit cramped. Also, the bunk beds in this Haka weren't as sturdy as those in Queenstown and Wanaka – they creaked quite a bit when getting on or off. However, this Haka has plenty of bathrooms, one in the triple room itself and three more outside on the floor, which is really convenient."

"This is a fantastic hotel. Due to flight issues, I checked in late at night, but the lobby was incredibly warm and comfortable, with a beautiful and pleasant atmosphere. The environment is truly outstanding. It faces a large park, offering lovely views, and the transportation is convenient as it's right in the city center and very close to the airport. The lobby fireplace was cozy, and the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming, treating guests like family. The room was very clean and tidy, hygienic, and comfortable. It was spacious, and the bedding was excellent – clean and very comfortable to use. The bathroom was great, and the room overall was very spacious, neat, bright, and grand. Everything felt relatively new. I would definitely stay here again next time. It offers great value for money."

"The common room is equipped with a kitchen, microwave, oven, and refrigerator, which is great for long-term stays. The room itself is small but functional, perfectly fine if you just need a place to sleep and don't have any special requirements. Be aware of the downstairs bar's operating hours, as the music will play until they close. It gets much quieter after closing. Also, please remember that check-out is always at 10:00 AM. We had seen 12:00 PM listed on the Trip system when we booked and were informed by housekeeping that the time on Trip was incorrect. After clarifying, we weren't charged any extra fees."

"The beds in the twin room were spacious enough; one bed would suffice for a family of three or even four. The room itself was quite large, featuring a corner sofa area that was perfect for organizing luggage and other belongings.
The hotel's location was a bit tricky to find, as the name and logo weren't very prominent, leading us to drive around in circles a few times. If you're driving, I'd recommend doing some research beforehand to familiarize yourself with the surroundings.
The restaurant downstairs at the hotel served excellent food. If you're planning to go for brunch on the weekend, I suggest making a reservation in advance. In the evening, the handcrafted cocktails were top-notch."

"The location is incredibly convenient. The tram starting point is right next door, and it's just a two-minute walk to the Cathedral Square, which is currently undergoing restoration. The city center and the Cardboard Cathedral are also within walking distance.
The room is very well-equipped. It has a capsule coffee machine, and all the toiletries are labeled as New Zealand-made. Plus, the bathroom even has a heated towel rail, and the TV comes with paid sports channels – this is a step above most international chain hotels.
The front desk staff are all very friendly, and there's even a Chinese-speaking employee. They were all enthusiastic and helpful in answering any questions I had."

The women's bathroom has 5 stalls and 4 showers. The kitchen is spacious, but you'll need to bring your own cooking utensils like pots, pans, plates, glasses, and spoons, as well as dish soap.

GGuest UserMy friends and I had a great stay at The Bealey Quarter! The motel is situated in Christchurch City, allowing easy access to the tourist sites, whether you're travelling on foot, by car, or by public transport. There are plenty of buses and metro buses that frequently stop right near the accommodation as well!
The staff were very friendly. We had a late flight (that got delayed even later) and ended up having to check in after hours. They were very accommodating with this, and similarly, when we asked for new towels, we received them immediately. Similarly, they were kind enough to allow us to put our luggage in their reception office whilst we went to collect our rental car on the day that we checked out. My only issue is that I had to contact them a few times before I received the late check-in details.
The facilities were lovely. and very clean! The bathroom was private with a shower with good pressure and hot water. The bench and the toilet were a little high, which we were surprised by, but this wasn't a major issue at all! My only recommendation would be to add a ventilation fan to the bathroom, as although there is an open window above the sink, ventilation was still not ideal. The room came with a heater, a really good fan, and very comfy blankets and duvets. We were also provided with glasses and mugs, a selection of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, a hair dryer, a bin, a little cupboard, desk, chair, and even a bench where our suitcases fit really well. The view of the courtyard was beautiful despite the somewhat miserable weather, and access to the courtyard via the back door meant we could use the hammocks in the nice grassy area :) The back door was a bit tough to open, and we had to actually get the staff to show us how to use it. My only other qualm is that there is no potable water in the rooms themselves. Instead, our keycard allows us to the Lodge (I believe the hostel area), where there's a kitchen and we can fill up.
Overall, we had a great experience here and I definitely recommend the Bealey Quarter to anyone coming to Christchurch. It was so affordable too :))

GGuest UserI was a bit disappointed. I was expecting this to be a 5 star place, but there were a lot of things that were definitely not 5 stars. The robes were grey and didn't cover bigger people. One of them had pilling all over it, I didn't want to even wear it. The bathroom door squeaked loudly, so if one person got up to the toilet in the middle of the night, it woke the other person up. There were instructions on how to use the spa bath, but not on how to put the plug in. It didn't just plug in normally. We weren't able to use it on our first night which was very frustrating as it was one of our main attractions. I rang housekeeping the next day. Someone came and had a look and said that you had to turn a know on the side of the spa, how would anyone know that? The lock on the door to outside was broken and a small slide lock had been put on. Why not fix the main lock? I used the toilets to the side of the library and when I washed my hands, the tap was all loose and wobbled round. All these things are little but show that the lodge needs to have things fixed or updated. For $300 per night, you expect the best. The worse thing was on our last morning, we got to breakfast about 8:45, the restaurant closes at 9:30 am. There was continental and scrambled eggs and bacon. At about 9:00 am they stopped bringing out anymore bread to toast. No more croissants, eggs or bacon were brought out. There were about 6 tables with guests and everyone kept going up and checking, but they didn't refill. People were saying, they must have run out of food! But for some reason the waiter kept lifting the lids to the egg and bacon to see what was in there, but of course there was nothing as he hadn't refilled it and he was the only waiter!! I was really disappointed and wouldn't recommend it, unless you are getting a really good discount.

KKenny_ChengBudget, clean & comfortable hotel. I stayed in the mixed sleeping pod. Each pod come with locked storage. The communal resting area & kitchen is housed in a huge space with high ceilings, a bit stuffy though since the kitchen is also in the same area.
The hotel is very near to Christchurch airport, ideal location for those at late arrival or require early departure.

FFayreWe are couple with a 5 year old girl. We paid SGD697.85 (Singapore dollar) for staying 2 nights in this “2 bedroom apartment” as stated.
3 points here to explain the terrible experience.
1. tv remote is not working. I don’t mind the owner making excuse like “ replied customer’s message within 20mins…..” but they actually took 29mins to reply (19:10 till 19:39). In fact, they didn’t manage to change the tv remote in the end. So I stayed 2 nights without using the TV!
2.there is no clear and obvious description that this “2 bedroom apartment” is actually an adjoining unit which means when u walked into the front door then there are 2 doors link to split parts of the apartment. The problem of adjoining units are thin walls are used to split the apartment into 2 small units. When u stay in this kind of apartment, u have to endure all kind of noises from whoever staying in neighboring rooms. We had 2 days enduring guesting from the other room shouting, slamming the door, kids screaming like crazy both early in the morning and afternoon!
3. When I reflect this bad experience with trip.com customer service, this hotel responded like they have no fault at all and played with words. This attitude makes us feel like being fooled. We paid money to expect to stay in an apartment with privacy and quiet environment but indeed we had such a bad experience!

AAnonymous UserWe had a wonderful stay at Novotel Christchurch Airport.
The location is unbeatable — literally just a short walk from the airport terminal, making it incredibly convenient, especially for travellers with young children. We stayed for one night with our toddler as we had an early morning flight the next day, and it was the perfect choice. Being able to rest properly without worrying about airport transfers made our journey so much smoother.
The room was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped for our family. Everything was clean and thoughtfully laid out, giving us a relaxing stay before our flight.
The staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay. A special mention to the concierge team, who kindly gifted our toddler a cute little Kiwi bird plushie. It was such a thoughtful gesture and brought a huge smile to his face. Small touches like these really make a difference and leave a lasting impression.
Overall, we had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. Great service, fantastic location, and family-friendly hospitality. We would definitely stay here again the next time we’re in Christchurch.

AAxinwukongThe location is fantastic! It's convenient for getting everywhere. The cathedral is right downstairs, and it's not far from the lakeside market or the Cardboard Cathedral, all within walking distance. The sightseeing bus stop is also close by, and the Avon River gondola rides are nearby too. Taking a taxi to the Botanic Gardens, the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts, and the art gallery isn't far either. Both New Brighton Pier and Sumner Beach are about 10 kilometers away by taxi, similar to the distance to the airport, and Uber fares are reasonable. Overall, I'm satisfied. Just a minor note, it seemed like the shampoo and other amenities weren't checked and might have run out without being noticed.
