Bardzo dobry tani hotel. Położony w pobliżu lotniska, przystanek autobusowy naprzeciwko hotelu. Można dojechać do centrum Funchal, a stamtąd w innym kierunku. Śniadanie za małą dopłatą, jak dla mnie smaczne - tzw kontynentalne, ale każdy znajdzie coś dla siebie. Można dokupić obiady za 25€/os. Basen wewnętrzny i zewnętrzny. Bar koło basenu, ręczniki kąpielowe przy barze. Pokoje czyste i komfortowe, obsługa miła i pomocna. Jeżeli będę wracał na Maderę z pewnością wybiorę ten hotel. Klimatyzacja w pokoju, choć nie używałem. Mogę z pewnością polecić ten hotel.
Hotel Solar BOM Jesus was a delightful stay. I appreciated the quiet and serene atmosphere. The room was spotless and comfortable, perfect for a restful night's sleep. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. The hotel's location, nestled amidst stunning scenery, offered breathtaking views and easy access to local attractions. I highly recommend this gem to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat.

The hotel is in a good location and the sea view room which we reserved had a nice view of ocean. But, I need to mention that this hotel is not a 4 star hotel. The whole building is old and they kept it in an old fashion way. The bath is not good, they don't offer even water in daily service and neither tea. (which is expected from a four star hotel)
The elevator is old and always full, really not suitable for an eleven floor building.
Very sociable kind staff who talk to you like a regular friend coming in, plain rooms but nice sized windows for the fresh air, great rooftop view alllllll over the mountain and the ocean - especially lovely at night as everything is lit up. Cute bar setup aside the pool too! Good price for its perfect location and cleanliness and covering all the basics and a bit more. Good brunch cafe just across the street facing the cafe! The staff were super helpful with setting up a late checkin too.
Great location relative to Funchal. Great room, a bit old-fashioned. Because we had been here before, we saw that the hotel had been refurbished, but it did not really have a nice atmosphere. The carpeting has been replaced by cold canvas. White light everywhere, also in the rooms, it lacks atmosphere. Breakfast is the same every morning, as are the staff, they are busy with each other instead of with guests.
There is often a sewer smell around the hotel.
We were charmed by the location and the view, otherwise it leaves something to be desired.
The dining room -I was there for the breakfast- is an old one, not so inviting. The breakfast-selection is not so good, as a vegan or vegetarian you can't choose much (only beans & bread), the coffee is okay but not tasty, the juices are not fresh & sugary.
There is no big pot for cooking, for two persons it would be good to have one.
The bed is good, the fan does its job, the bathroom is big enough, the balcony practical.
The location is near to the busline, 30min to walk to the center & there is the Lido promenade (with some places to swim) to the next small city with a small light tunnel for pedestrians, there you can hear/see the surf :)
The opening times for the pool are too late in the morning and too short (8.00-20.00).
The female staff at the reception with the glasses (saturday evening), didn't manage my wake-up-call for the next morning (the staff at this day showed me that he had no notice for a call), thats not a good one, because sometimes you have to depend on it.
The hotel is good, on the beach, public transport stop nearby, there is hiking nearby. You can book surfing, diving, excursions at the hotel, breakfasts are also not bad.
But the service! From such a hotel you expect that they will be more friendly with you, take you to the room for the first time, tell you what and where to find, etc. None of this happened.
Upon check-in to the room there was a compliment - water, cookies and wine. But the water is not replenished later. In the room, towels are changed every day, robes, etc.

GGuest UserI have visited this hotel before the recent renovation and would like to know about these changes. I am very surprised! I really like the open concept of front desk, bar, restaurant and its decoration. I emphasized the changes made to the room: decoration, comfort and extra facilities (tea, coffee, champagne and minibar). I like the swimming pool built on the terrace and surrounding area. The breakfast is great and I like the idea of the dinner menu. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Congratulations! ! ! 💖
VVerified MemberThis was a very decent and affordable hotel — nothing fancy or luxurious, but it covers the basics quite well. It’s clean, efficient, and does the job for travelers looking for a simple place to stay. One of the best surprises was that if you’re lucky enough to get a room with ocean views, it really adds a lot of value to the overall experience.
That said, there were some clear drawbacks. The room itself felt extremely tight, especially for two people with a couple of suitcases. There was very limited space to move around, which made things feel a bit cramped and uncomfortable. The bathroom was also quite small, and while functional, it lacked the comfort you’d hope for in a multi-day stay.
One highlight was the balcony. Though the interior space was tight, the room had a good-sized balcony where we enjoyed golden hour and sunset views — that part was genuinely lovely and added a sense of openness and relaxation we didn’t get inside the room.
The most significant downside for me was the parking situation. The hotel only has three official parking spots, which are always full. Given the area is busy and surrounded by in-demand places like grocery stores, cafés, restaurants, and a laundromat, street parking is very limited and expensive. I had to park at a nearby garage, which cost 10 euros overnight.
As for the rooftop, the amenities there weren’t particularly impressive — nothing that would stand out compared to more upscale hotels. But once again, the ocean and sunset views from the rooftop are stunning and give you a brief illusion of being at a five-star resort.
All in all, this hotel offers good value for money, especially if you’re not planning to spend too much time in the room. It’s a solid base for exploring the area, as long as you’re okay with a few compromises in comfort and convenience.
FFaroSandraNice hotel that lived up to expectations.
Excellent location in Calheta, right on a golden sand beach, with direct access from the hotel. It is ideal to have a car as it is 30 minutes from Funchal.
It's worth paying extra to have a room with a sea view
The quality and quantity of the food complies with the all-inclusive package, as do the drinks.
Daily and varied entertainment.
Good spa with heated pool, Turkish bath, sauna and cold showers.
Very pleasant outdoor pool area, with plenty of sun loungers and well designed.
Free ping pong, paid billiards (€3/hour).
Very good price/quality ratio.
EElias KletterGreat big hotel. Lots of German pensioners. Very good location - on the ocean, next to a large shopping center Forum and Formosa beach. Bus 1 or 2 takes you to the center of Funchal in 12 minutes.
Breakfast is very varied, but queues for coffee after 8 am. Pass on the floor with stunning ocean views, you can sit outside.
Didn't like the pools - with a beautiful view, but shallow, waist-deep water everywhere. Only for children. Air conditioning only works for cooling - it was cold in the room.
GGuest UserA bit far from the center. But good cleaning. Very varied breakfast. Pool and jacuzzi that comes in handy when you return from excursions.
The views from the terraces are spectacular, especially at night.
buses very close

NNia TravelsA beautiful beachfront hotel that is perfect for romantic getaways and a cheaper alternative, yet still luxury, to standard 5 star hotels. Location wise the hotel isn’t great as it’s very remote from the strip/city centre and taxi prices are not particularly cheap in Madeira. The rooms are spacious and stunning, well worth it with a great selection for the breakfast buffet and plenty of restaurants/options for dinner. A lovely love band/musician plays every night which is also great. Overall a wonderful stay with much friendly staff, however if you are looking to do much sightseeing in Madeira, this hotel is not the best option unless a significant amount is left for travel.
GGuest UserLocation was good as is just a 10 min walk to downtown. As a frequent traveler, I don't consider the hotel 5-star rated hotel. It's ok for a 4-star, but not 5. Doesn't meet a 5-star standard in several things. For example, if you are driving, parking is a little bit an hassle as you have to change from one building to another. Breakfast was good but not 5-star breakfast. Lack of warm breakfast dishes and pastries. Windows in the room not sound proof. Woke up severals times during night time as you could hear the noise from the Garbage truck. When you take a shower, leaks water towards the hand sink area. Pillows, not match a 5-star standard either. Was ok, but not great!
AAnthonyA stunning location and a very comfortable, clean hotel with amazing views from the bedroom and restaurant. Walking opportunities are limited due to the steepness of the terrain but there’s a great path down to Curral do Freitas (45-60 minutes). Service was very good but the vegetarian food was not up to the standards that we expected. Good selection at breakfast but the hot breakfast is not kept warm. Nice jacuzzi and nice, small indoor pool.Certainly worth a visit but could be even better with better food as it’s a long way to the nearest restaurant. €3.35 bus from Funchal (No. 81) but check timetables carefully
