The temple was once at risk of being submerged by plans to build the Aswan High Dam, but was miraculously relocated and preserved thanks to support from around the world. This huge project led to the birth of the concept of "World Heritage Sites," and it is still talked about today as a symbol of cultural heritage protection. As a holder of the World Heritage Certification Examination, this is a place I have always wanted to see with my own eyes! I observed the inside and outside of the temple, tilting my head to wonder how it was cut up when it was transferred! Even if you are not interested in world heritage sites or world history, you will definitely be overwhelmed by its scale. Abu Simbel is a small town located just before the border with Sudan, with no major attractions other than the temple, but the streets are full of flowers and greenery like a seaside town, and it was such a pleasant place that I thought it would have been nice to stay there for a while.
