The highest volcanic lake, in search of the monster's traces, wait for the clouds and mist to clear, to behold the scenery of Heaven Lake

Heaven Lake of Changbai Mountain is located at the top of the main peak's volcanic cone in the Changbai Mountain scenic area, and it is the largest crater lake in China, holding the Guinness World Record for the highest volcanic lake. Surrounded by peculiar peaks, the waters of Heaven Lake are emerald green and crystal clear, serving as the source of the Songhua, Tumen, and Yalu Rivers. The surface of Heaven Lake is at an altitude of 2150 meters, named for its high location, formed by volcanic eruption, shaped like an oval basin, with rain and snow collecting to form a lake, covering an area of 10 square kilometers, it is a vast natural reservoir. The best time to visit Heaven Lake is in the height of summer when there are fewer clouds and mists, making it easier to glimpse the true face of Heaven Lake. Suspended in the sky, the lake has no inlet but only an outlet, with water flowing all year round, adding to its mystery. There have been legends of a monster in Heaven Lake since ancient times, which adds a mysterious color to it. There are even historical records of the monster dating back many years. Heaven Lake is also a border lake between China and North Korea, with boundary markers of the two countries on the mountain top of the western slope. Standing by the lake, one can look out at the other half of the mountain within North Korean territory.
