Visit to the three castles of Bellinzona

#2024WishEvent During the winter, Castle Grande is the only one of the three castles in the area that is open. It costs 8chf without discount unless you buy a 'pass' for all three castles. There were about 5 people in the arena and the staff at the entrance said it was mostly quiet and peaceful. There is a brief film of the castle in English, German, French and Italian. There is no museum shop but there is a case where you can buy postcards, keychains and other 'castle-things'. The museum is small but interesting with information about the castle's origins, coins and ceramics. There is also another section with restored paintings of the castle. The arena is well maintained and easy to walk and you can climb up and down following the 'Murata' signs. There are two towers you can climb up but the stairs are steep and narrow. You can also walk through the tunnel (mentioned in the introduction film) which then takes you back to the city centre.
