The Gold Museum of Bogota, officially known as Museo del Oro, is located in Santander Park in the capital of Colombia, Bogota. It was established in 1939 and moved to its current location in 1968. The museum houses over 26,000 pieces of gold, including the world-famous 'Sacred Chest' inlaid with 1,400 emeralds. Most of these gold pieces are exquisite artifacts made by the Indians before the Columbus era, and their quantity and quality are among the best in the world. The museum is divided into three floors. The first floor mainly introduces the history of the Indians, the second floor focuses on the gold mining and refining techniques of the Indians, and the third floor displays some of the collected gold artifacts.
