According to legend, the Derby Ram was 10 yards tall - about 9 meters tall, with giant horns and loose wool, and was a mythical figure. Local sculptor Michael Pegler created the famous Derby Ram Statue in 1995, and the ram sculpture in this event also uses his design. The Derby Ram Trail is a collaboration between Derby Museums and Wild in Art, transforming Derby's streets and trails into an outdoor art gallery. There are 30 ram sculptures in total, designed and hand-painted by artists, with designs based on Derby, Derbyshire and the world, and each one is colorful and unique. In addition, 30 mini rams were designed and decorated by local schoolchildren. They were simple and cute, adding educational significance and interactive elements to the event. The ram sculpture was later auctioned and the proceeds were donated to a local museum fund for conservation efforts. However, 15 of the sculptures remain on the street for passers-by to admire.
