If you're planning a stroll along the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront anytime soon, you absolutely have to check out the free "Garden Life" exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of Art! As a major cultural landmark right next to the iconic Victoria Harbour, it offers stunning daytime views. Whether you're an art enthusiast or just looking for the perfect Instagram shot, you'll fall in love with this spot. Believe it or not, this exhibition features collections from the Palace Museum, the Palace of Versailles, and the Art Institute of Chicago—plus two authentic Monet masterpieces! It's the ultimate destination for a laid-back weekend or a trendy artsy outing. You get to admire world-class art without even leaving Hong Kong! 🌟 Top Itinerary Highlights The entire museum offers a super relaxing vibe. I highly recommend heading up to the viewing deck first to take in the breathtaking Victoria Harbour before stepping into the main exhibition halls. The "Garden Life" exhibition focuses on the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures, showcasing a gorgeous and internationally curated selection of pieces. If you want to chill out, there's a dining area inside where you can grab a bite while enjoying the ocean view—it's especially fantastic on a sunny day! You can easily snap 10/10 photos capturing the perfect crossover of nature, floral aesthetics, and humanistic art. 🎨 Must-See Spots 1. Victoria Harbour Viewing Deck Head straight up to the viewing deck from the G/F of the museum to overlook Victoria Harbour. The panoramic view is incredible! Under the daytime sun, the water literally sparkles. Any picture you take here is guaranteed to be an instant IG hit! 2. "Garden Life" Special Exhibition (Free Admission) With the theme of "Gardening x Lifestyle x World Masterpieces," this exhibition showcases collections from three major global museums. Alongside elegant artifacts from Chinese and French imperial palaces, two authentic Monet paintings completely steal the show. If you're a fan of Impressionism, you definitely need to carve out some extra time to admire them. The exhibition halls also feature interactive zones and exquisite floral installations. It’s the perfect spot to take your time, relax, and enjoy a quiet, leisurely moment. 3. In-House Art & Design Bookstore / Dining When you need a break from exploring, I recommend dropping by the bookstore on the G/F to pick up an art book as a souvenir. There's also a cozy dining area nearby with plenty of coffee and dessert options. Sitting there, soaking in the view and the sunshine, truly makes you feel like you're savoring an "urban oasis." 📌 Handy Tips · The "Garden Life" exhibition is free, with staff on-site to guide you. Just remember to make a reservation or arrive early to beat the crowds! · The AC inside the museum is pretty strong, so bring a light jacket. If you're planning to take photos outside, don't forget a sun hat and some water—the summer sun can be intense! · The authentic Monet exhibition area is super popular. Try to hit it up right when the museum opens to avoid long lines. · Aside from the main exhibition, take a stroll through the outdoor gardens and sculpture area to get some fresh air by the harbour. 💡 Address & Opening Hours Hong Kong Museum of Art G/F, 10 Salisbury Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong Opening Hours: Mon to Wed, Fri: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM Sat & Sun: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM (Closed on Thursdays, so plan accordingly!) Whether it's an art pilgrimage, a waterfront stroll, or just sneaking away for a half-day of relaxation after work, this is the perfect spot. This artsy getaway guarantees you’ll leave feeling totally fulfilled! 🤍

EP.7 | Petra: The Hidden Mystery City. — traveler post in Chicago

EP.7 | Petra: The Hidden Mystery City.

🏛️ EP.7 | Petra: The Mysterious City Hidden Deep Within the Desert 🇯🇴 Can you believe it? Right in the heart of a barren desert, an entire ancient city lies carved directly into rose-colored stone cliffs! 😱 This is Petra, Jordan—one of the New 7 Wonders of the World—with a history stretching back over 2,000 years. 🏜️ The most breathtaking part of this city is how the structures, tombs, and temples were meticulously hewn into the sandstone cliffs. Most iconic of all is Al-Khazneh, better known as “The Treasury,” which stands nearly 40 meters tall! 🔍 But the real marvel is how the Nabataeans built such a massive city in such an arid landscape. Through advanced water management systems—dams, tunnels, and channels—they turned this desert into a thriving oasis. ⏳ As trade routes shifted and natural disasters struck, Petra slowly faded from prominence. It remained hidden from the Western world until 1812, though it was always known to the local Bedouin tribes. ✨ Today, Petra still holds many secrets, with archaeologists constantly uncovering new remnants of this ancient civilization. 💬 If you were walking through a narrow canyon and suddenly came face-to-face with this massive pink stone city, what would you feel?

Chicago in a Day: A Route from The Bean to the 94th Floor — traveler post in Chicago

Chicago in a Day: A Route from The Bean to the 94th Floor

If you’re wondering how to see the best of Chicago in just one day, this itinerary will help you hit all the major landmarks without the rush or chaos. 🫘 Millennium Park and The Bean — Home to Cloud Gate, world-famous as "The Bean." Its mirrored surface captures the sky, the skyscrapers, the park, and the people all at once. Make sure to walk all the way around and even step underneath—the perspectives change with every step. Right nearby is the Crown Fountain, featuring two glass towers displaying the faces of locals. It's a perfect start to your walk before heading toward the river. 🌊 Chicago Riverwalk and Marina City — This is one of the city's best strolls. You’ll walk right along the water, under historic bridges, and beneath towering skyscrapers while boats glide by. Keep an eye out for Marina City—two iconic round towers that look just like corn cobs. For Russian-speaking travelers, the spot directly opposite is a filming location from the movie "Brother 2," making it a neat little cinematic landmark. 🎬 🚤 Architecture River Cruise — Even with only one day, this is an absolute must. The city reveals itself differently from the water; you get to see the buildings in their entirety rather than just glimpses between blocks. Guides share stories about the architecture, the bridges, the Great Chicago Fire, and how the city became the architectural heart of the US. Opt for the open deck, but bring a light jacket for the wind. Pro tip: Book your tickets in advance, especially for afternoon or sunset slots. 🏙 Michigan Avenue — After the cruise, head down one of Chicago’s most famous streets. This is where you experience that classic "Big Chicago" feel: high-end shops, luxury hotels, historic facades, and modern glass towers. It’s a great spot to grab a coffee or a quick bite. It’s a busy day, so don’t forget to take a breather. 🌅 360 Chicago — The perfect way to end your day. This observation deck on the 94th floor of the former John Hancock Center offers sweeping views of the entire city, Lake Michigan, and the endless coastline. From up here, the lake looks like a vast sea, and the skyline blends into one breathtaking panorama. 📍 The Route: Millennium Park → The Bean → Crown Fountain → Chicago Riverwalk → Architecture Cruise → Michigan Avenue → 360 Chicago. To make the most of your day, wear comfortable shoes, book your cruise and observation deck tickets ahead of time, and leave a little wiggle room between stops. This is the Chicago I remember best: the water, the wind, the bridges, and the architecture that looks different every time you see it. Check my profile for more US travel itineraries! 🤍

Pick High Altitude Roaming, Chicago’s Soul in the Clouds — traveler post in Chicago

Pick High Altitude Roaming, Chicago’s Soul in the Clouds

Some are fascinated by Chicago’s grid-like streets, some are enchanted by its skyscraper aesthetics. But I’ve always felt that the true romance of Chicago lies in standing high above, letting the wind sweep across the skyline to fully understand its charm. Here are 3 must-try high-altitude experiences I personally recommend for you: 1️⃣ Skydeck Chicago · Willis Tower A legendary landmark built in 1973, it held the title of the tallest building in the U.S. for 26 years. Its sleek bundled-tube design is a milestone in Chicago’s skyline. Now, the observation deck features an immersive underground passage and a city museum. Step into the story of light and shadow, and experience Chicago’s thrilling journey from rebuilding to rising. Every snapshot you take is a high-quality city masterpiece. Take the high-speed elevator straight up to the 103rd floor and stand on The Ledge, a fully transparent glass observation deck. Suspended 412 meters above the ground, the entire city’s texture unfolds beneath your feet. On clear days, the view stretches across state lines, breathtakingly vast and speechless. 2️⃣ 360 CHICAGO Nighttime Signature Sky Bar Located on the 94th floor of the John Hancock Center, offering a 360° unobstructed panoramic view. What’s most amazing is that it’s a sky bar designed specifically for nighttime! Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the flowing nightscape. As the sunset fades and the lights come on, Lake Michigan and the skyscrapers reflect each other. Chicago’s toughness and tenderness balance perfectly here. Don’t miss the TILT inclined observation deck. The glass platform slowly tilts outward, suspending your body above the city. Your heartbeat races while the city lights completely heal you. Enjoy a nightcap at the Cloud Bar, where the high-altitude night view and tipsy atmosphere are maximized. 3️⃣ Chicago Helicopter Tour (Vertiport Helicopter) To truly understand the complete Chicago skyline, you must experience the god’s-eye view. After the helicopter takes off, Willis Tower, John Hancock Center, Navy Pier, and the lakeshore all connect into a stunning city panorama. Modern architecture intertwined with Lake Michigan’s waters, an unobstructed grandeur. This is Chicago’s unique high-altitude romance, unforgettable at a glance. For breathtaking daytime views, choose Skydeck; for a tipsy night with a locked-in night view, choose 360 CHICAGO. Chicago’s night is hidden in a cloud-level glass of wine.

Chicago | Sitting Gently Across from the City in the World's Largest Starbucks — traveler post in Chicago

Chicago | Sitting Gently Across from the City in the World's Largest Starbucks

I've always felt that the romance of a city often lies hidden in a shop that allows you to slow down. And this Starbucks Reserve Roastery on Michigan Avenue in Chicago is the city's gentlest coffee utopia. It's more than just a coffee shop; it's a five-story coffee theater. A 17-meter-high giant copper roasting vat runs through the entire building, where green beans are roasted and transformed, their aroma spreading along the spiral staircase, infusing each floor with a rich coffee fragrance. Here, you can clearly see a coffee bean's complete journey from its distant origin to the rich aroma in your cup, like a silent yet healing ritual. Sitting by the window is the most enchanting experience. Outside, the bustling streets of the Grand Mile stretch abound, its skyscrapers exuding Chicago's unique ruggedness; inside, warm lighting and cozy furnishings create a tranquil atmosphere. As the coffee slowly pours into your cup, time seems to slow down. Just a window separates you from the city's hustle and bustle, offering a private moment of peace and relaxation. No need to rush; simply feel the city's breath. 📸 Must-Take-Around Spots 1. City View Seat by Window: Facing the Michigan Avenue streetscape, coffee and city skyline in one frame, brimming with artistic atmosphere. 2. Central Spiral Escalator: Against the backdrop of a giant copper barrel, creating a strong sense of depth, perfect for industrial-style photos. 3. Fifth-Floor Roasting Pipeline Area: Looking up, you'll see the coffee piping system running throughout the building, combining structural beauty with a sense of history. 💡 Useful Tips 1. Extremely popular, queues are common on weekends and afternoons. It's recommended to visit on weekday mornings or avoid peak dining hours. 2. The shop offers a variety of exclusive premium coffee beans and limited-edition merchandise, perfect as travel souvenirs. 3. Located in the heart of the glamorous One Mile, easily accessible, close to the Chicago Ave (Red Line) subway station, or directly accessible by taxi. 📍646 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60611

The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel: A Vintage Luxury Steeped in Rich History and Culture — traveler post in Chicago

The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel: A Vintage Luxury Steeped in Rich History and Culture

Above the hustle and bustle of Chicago’s Michigan Avenue, time seems to slow down in front of this Venetian Gothic castle. The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel is not just a building but a three-dimensional history book, witnessing the glory of the Gilded Age. Now part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, it whispers tales of past splendor to every guest. This is more than a place to stay—it’s a sensory journey through time. 🏰 Architectural Essence: A Venetian Gothic Hall Designed in 1893 by Henry Ives Cobb, this building is a work of art itself. The façade is a symphony of red brick and limestone, while the interior is a carefully restored vintage maze by Roman and Williams studio. Towering stained glass windows, intricately carved wooden panels, massive marble fireplaces, and the iconic mosaic tile floors together create the weighty warmth of an old-school gentlemen’s club. Step into the lobby, and the air still seems to carry the lingering scent of cigars and the rich aroma of whiskey, with every detail telling the story of Chicago’s golden era. 🌆 Stunning Views: Rooftop Garden Overlooking “The Bean” The hotel occupies Chicago’s prime scenic spot—directly facing Millennium Park and just a street away from the famous “Cloud Gate” (The Bean). The ultimate indulgence is to visit the rooftop restaurant Cindy’s. This is one of Chicago’s hottest spots, where under a transparent glass dome, your eyes feast on the sprawling city skyline and the deep blue of Lake Michigan. At dusk, as the city lights come on, the park’s illumination and the distant lake view blend into a romance unique to the Windy City. 🎨 Unique Design: An Immersive Vintage Sports Aesthetic The design team perfectly preserved and reinterpreted the “Athletic Association” heritage. In the guest rooms, brass bed frames, leather sofas, Oriental rugs, and boxing robe-style bathrobes exude a masculine yet elegant vintage sports vibe. The public areas are full of playful touches: a former pommel horse transformed into a bench, table legs wrapped in tennis racket leather, and the historic Stagg Court basketball court preserved. This clever integration of sports equipment elements into luxurious décor fills the space with stories and whimsy. 🍸 Rooms & Dining: A Feast for the Senses · Room Experience: Rooms blend dark wood tones with modern comfort. Faribault wool throws and Sferra luxury bedding ensure a lavish sleep experience. Be sure to choose a room facing Millennium Park to make Chicago’s day and night views your private backdrop. · Dining Scene: Beyond the unbeatable views at Cindy’s, the hotel houses several distinct dining venues. Game Room is a lively bar and restaurant with billiards and shuffleboard; Cherry Circle Room offers an atmospheric fine dining experience; and the Milk Room, with only eight seats, is a hidden vintage speakeasy bar specializing in classic cocktails, full of mystery. 🎱 Entertainment & Leisure: The Modern Gentleman’s Club This is not a traditional business hotel but a large social playground. You can feel history on the old basketball court, swing in the Topgolf Swing Suite game room, play a game of pool, or simply read by the lobby fireplace, all evoking the relaxed charm of old-time gentlemanly socializing. The location is unbeatable, within walking distance to art museums and theater districts. When night falls, standing on Cindy’s terrace watching the evening breeze ripple over Lake Michigan and The Bean, you’ll understand that some journeys aren’t about arriving but about lingering. The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel is that time capsule where history and vibrancy meet, inviting you to stay a little longer.

Amazing 360-degree views of Chicago! The skyline and Lake Michigan look absolutely stunning from above. Highly recommend visiting around sunset to enjoy both the daytime and nighttime views.

875 North Michigan Avenue

875 North Michigan Avenue was that narrow, black skyscraper, like a block of wood stuck at the intersection. The building was pitch black inside; the elevator doors opened onto glass windows, offering a view of Chicago spread out below. The wind was so strong the windows rattled, and the lake was a hazy, indistinct expanse of gray. A child was pressed against the window counting boats, but forgot to finish halfway through. The distant sound of traffic below drifted up like muffled thunder. Feeling dizzy after standing there for a while, I quickly found the elevator and went down.

Grant Park

Grant Park was quite spacious. Buckingham Fountain sprayed water high into the air, and children ran around the pool, not caring that their pants were getting wet. Many people lay on the lawn, some sunbathing, some doing somersaults. Under that big tree, someone was playing guitar, the tune languidly playing. In the distance, you could see the rows of large columns of the museum. I sat on a bench and ate an apple, pigeons swarming around waiting for the crumbs to fall. A cool breeze blew by, making me want to stay put.

Field Museum

The Field Museum is absolutely massive and you could easily spend hours exploring! There’s an incredible variety of exhibits covering natural history, science, cultures from around the world, conservation, and evolution, with highlights like SUE the T. rex and the beautiful halls throughout the museum. We especially came for the Pokémon Fossil Museum, which was such a creative way to teach about fossils and paleontology by comparing real specimens with Pokémon! You do need to reserve a timed ticket for the Pokémon exhibit in advance, and despite the limited capacity, the small space still felt pretty crowded with lots of families and kids. Overall, though, the Field Museum is beautiful, fascinating, and easily one of Chicago’s must-visit museums!

U.S. Route 66

Route 66 is an old, worn-out asphalt road, cracked in some sections with weeds sprouting from the gaps. Occasionally, an abandoned gas station stands by the roadside, its sign rusted but still standing, its pump covered in dust. Driving into a small town, the neon lights outside old restaurants don't work during the day, and old photos and broken guitars are displayed in the windows. Next to it, an old Chevrolet, rusted to its frame, sits there like a sculpture. There's hardly anyone around; the wind whistles through the road signs, creating a desolate atmosphere.

Skydeck Chicago

Standing on the glass balcony of the Willis Tower made my legs go weak. The cars below looked like ants, and the lake was a deep, endless blue. An older man was too afraid to step on it, so he squatted down and reached out to touch the glass, while a child next to him jumped around. Clouds drifted past the building, their shadows slowly moving across the city wall. When the elevator came down, my ears were ringing, and there was a long line in front of the ice cream stand outside.

Willis Tower

From afar, the Willis Tower looks like a black pillar, but its true height becomes apparent as you get closer. After waiting in line for ages for the elevator, my ears were ringing when I got up. Standing on that glass balcony made my legs weak; the cars below looked like ants. The lake stretched out before me, a hazy gray, and clouds drifted slowly past the building.

Shoreline Sightseeing(Michigan Avenue)

The sightseeing cruise allows you to appreciate the peninsula style and scenery of Chicago. There are more tourists at night. The cruise ship here is also quite spacious. You can walk freely here. The sailing time is about half an hour. The whole trip is very gratifying.

Navy Pier

The naval pier was quite lively. The Ferris wheel turned slowly, and riding it made me a little nervous. The lake breeze was cool on my face, and children ran around with cotton candy in hand. There were food stalls inside the large sailboat-shaped building; I bought some fries and sat by the lake, watching seagulls circle around, waiting for the crumbs to fall. A band was playing the saxophone in a pavilion, their tune languid and lazy. By the time I came out, it was already dark, and the lights were quite beautiful.
