Hongliu Bay | Another visual feast at the Desert Poplar Forest Scenic Area

The Desert Poplar Forest Scenic Area covers a total area of 15 square kilometers and is an important part of the 450,000 mu of pristine poplar forest in Ejina Banner. Relying on core resources such as poplars and the Weak Water River, it integrates with the desert, red willows, and peculiar trees to form a unity, boasting magical natural landscapes and unique ethnic culture, and is known as the 'pearl' of the desert. Based on different landscape resources, the scenic area is divided into six themed touring regions: Hongliu Bay, Desert Post Station, Weak Water Riverside, Taolimiao'er Lake, Water Realm Poplar Forest, and Desert Pastoral. Taolimiao'er is a Mongolian term, where 'Taoli' means mirror and 'Nao'er' means lake, together meaning 'lake like a mirror'. The blue sky, white clouds, and golden poplars render the calm water surface into a beautiful painting, hence the name 'Taolimiao'er', which has been passed down to this day. In Ejina, besides appreciating the poplars, the one thing we must not miss this season is the Hongliu Bay in the Desert Poplar Forest Scenic Area. Hongliu Bay covers an area of 980 mu, where the unadorned red willows have silently stood guard with the poplars for a thousand years. Every year in August and September, the red willows always burst into various brilliant colors. From a high vantage point, everywhere you look is pink, peach, and orange. Being in Hongliu Bay, with the red clouds dancing, it's like brocade and rosy clouds, and is spectacular to behold.
