The Church of Santuario de Nosa Señora das Angustias

Plaza de las Angustias, s/n, 15403 Ferrol, A Coruña The headquarters of the Cofradía de las Angustias is located in this church, where important events of the Holy Week in Ferrol are held. The church was built at the end of the 1990s. It has a simple design with white scenery. Inside, there is a sculpture deeply respected by the people of Ferrol: Our Lady of Angustias, holding her son in her arms. Sanctuary of Our Lady of Angustias The desire for their own church was born from the devotion of the people of Esteiro to Our Lady of Sorrows, the increase of brothers, and the fact that the brotherhood was 'borrowing' the old San Amaro Sanctuary. Once the construction was decided, a monument was erected on April 10, 1780, and permission was requested from Ilmo. The Bishop of Mondoñedo 'built a decent church'. It is located at the southwestern end of the Esteiro neighborhood, very close to Alameda. Subsequent renovations of the block between 1973-80 blurred the old layout of the block, which is located between the left bank of Avenida de Esteiro starting from Canton and Calle San José, with a row of small gardens in front and behind Plaza de las Angustias, to commemorate the old streets that were abolished in that area.
