Basum Lake

In Tibet, 'lake' is usually referred to as 'co'. Basum Lake is located in Gongbujiangda County, Nyingchi, Tibet. It is the first 5A natural scenic spot in Tibet. The lake is 3480 meters above sea level and the deepest part reaches 120 meters. It is listed as a world-class tourist attraction by the World Tourism Organization. 'Basum Lake' is a holy lake of the Red Sect. In Tibetan, it means 'green water'. Everyone loves to call it 'the emerald on the plateau'. Basum Lake is about 3700 meters above sea level, the lake is about 18 kilometers long, the lake area is about 27 square kilometers, and the deepest part reaches 120 meters. The shape of the entire lake is like a new moon embedded in the deep valley. Basum Lake is the first 5A natural scenic spot in Tibet, and it is also the holy lake and holy land of the Nyingma Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Basum Lake is the largest glacial barrier lake in southeastern Tibet. According to research, during the Ice Age, as the earth's temperature rose, the glaciers covered here also began to move. Under the erosion of glacier grinding, plucking and meltwater, the Basum Lake glacier lake basin was formed. Afterwards, the lake basin was washed by water for many years, coupled with earthquakes and landslides, and finally formed a glacial barrier lake.
