Yamdrok Lake, in Tibetan means 'turquoise lake', is one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. It is mainly located in Langkazi County, Shannan City, Tibet, with the middle section between Langkazi County and Gongga County, about 70 kilometers southwest of Lhasa, and is known as one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet along with Namtso and Mapang Yumco. It is the largest inland lake at the northern foot of the Himalayas. The lake is at an altitude of 4441 meters, 130 kilometers long from east to west, 70 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total shoreline of 250 kilometers, a total area of 638Km², about 70 times the size of West Lake in Hangzhou. The lake has an average depth of 20-40 meters, with the deepest part being 60 meters, and a volume of 14.6 billion cubic meters.
