Traditional Soba Next to a River

Address - 635-635 Yumoto, 箱根町 Hakone, Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa 250-0311, Japan Ambiance/Facilities - Traditional Japanese with little seating Highlights - Hand made buckwheat noodles Rating - 5/5 Hatsuhana Soba is a long established soba shop located next to a river. As you enjoy your meal, the sounds from the flowing water will calm your mind. The interior architecture is beautiful and resembles a traditional Japanese home. The interesting thing about them is that they handmade their buckwheat noodles without water, resulting in a chewy texture. I had the tempura soba with a side of grated mountain yam and raw egg. The taste is light on the palate and you can taste the freshness of each ingredient. As someone who appreciates clean tasting food, it was a hit for me. For those who prefer stronger flavours, fret not as they have other accompaniments to choose from. Eating at Hatsuhana is an experience in itself as you feel transported back in time. #japan #soba #hakone #food
