Little “Edo” Kawagoe
Kawagoe is known as little edo as it has an area which preserves all the edo houses. This is where you get a chance to see a glimpse of the historical buildings in Japan. It’s a day trip out of central Japan, about 45mins train ride from Shinjuku.
The place definitely gives out a quaint small town vibe, peaceful and definitely lesser crowd compared to other more famous attractions in the central Japan.
One of the #mustvisit is the Starbucks! It is designed in the tradition warehouse style which blends in so nicely with the rest of the buildings. It has a outdoor section behind which customers can get a drink and sit to enjoy the lovely weather. There are also shops around which sells delicious snacks.
Something different compared to the usual attractions that slow us down to appreciate the traditional side of Japan. #japan #mustdo
A nearby area to visit in Tokyo is Kawagoe. 30 minutes away from the city by train. It is known as "Little Edo". Get to experience the traditional Japan. Make sure to purchase also the Kawagoe Discount Pass for access to buses in the area. #happynewyear #wandermye #kawagoe #japan

Travel through time to the Edo period, and visit Kawagoe City in spring
👍Kawagoe City, you really know how to enjoy yourself!
❤The 33rd edition of the Kawagoe Spring Festival, a seasonal tradition of 'Little Edo' Kawagoe, is now grandly open.
🌟The festival dates from March 24th to April 21st, lasting nearly a month. This year, the cherry blossoms are blooming a bit later, so friends visiting Japan in April can still enjoy the cherry blossoms.
🖼Kawagoe City is located in the southwestern part of Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Since the Edo period, it has entered a prosperous era. The Kawagoe domain's castle town area is nicknamed 'Little Edo'. Kawagoe City is home to many castle ruins, shrines, temples, historical sites, and historic buildings. The number of cultural properties in Kawagoe ranks third in the Kanto region, after Kamakura City in Kanagawa Prefecture and Nikko City in Tochigi Prefecture, and is recognized by Japan as the only 'Historical City' in Saitama Prefecture. Due to the lack of destruction from domestic wars and natural disasters in Japan, Kawagoe City retains a large number of historical features, attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists for sightseeing each year.
✅The year 2024 marks the 33rd edition of the Little Edo Kawagoe Spring Festival. At the festival, you can see performances of matchlock and arquebus by the Kawagoe domain. At the Nakamachi Cross Street intersection, the Kawagoe Tobi Association performs a ladder rolling act, where performers gracefully climb a six-meter-high ladder supported by spires. In the central district of the streets, there is also a local fire brigade band playing the music of 'Spring in Little Edo Kawagoe' every day.
❤In addition to the events held in the Edo district, you can take a boat ride along the Kishikawa River next to the Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine to enjoy the scenery, with each boat trip lasting 10 minutes. Kitain, Renjakuji, and Naritasan Kawagoe Betsuin are also great places to enjoy the cherry blossoms.
🚉From within Tokyo, you can reach Kawagoe in less than 2 hours by taking multiple lines from places like Shinjuku and Ikebukuro.

✅Hyakawa Shrine: It has a history of 1500 years. Because the Hyakawa Shrine enshrines two couples, it has been worshipped as the 'God of Marriage Harmony', 'God of Family Harmony' and 'God of Matchmaking' since ancient times. There is a Hyakawa Bridge behind the shrine, and the cherry trees on both sides of the river are pretty all year round. The sea bream guard is a feature of the Hyakawa Shrine. You can fish for a sea bream talisman for 300 yen, which contains a sign. If you draw a bad one, hang it on the railing to resolve it. There are also small shrines in the backyard of the shrine, enshrining various gods who are responsible for their duties.
