Macau Island Old District Day Tour

#OctoberGoodDestinations2024 Since I was a child, I would go to Macau with my family every year. This time I would like to introduce the old town of Macau Island. Walking in the old town, you will still see many buildings from different eras. It is very convenient to travel from Hong Kong to Macau. It only takes more than an hour by boat or via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. As the weather was very good that day, as soon as we arrived in Macau, we went to the Guia Fortress (including the lighthouse and the Basilica of Our Lady of the Snows) to see the scenery of Macau. This is one of my favorite places to go because it's not too high up and can be reached by taking a short slope and some stairs. If you go there on weekdays, there won't be many people there and you can take photos as you like. The lighthouse has many features, but my favorite is that the building is white and yellow, full of European style and very beautiful for taking photos. The temple sanctuary is open to visitors, and you can look at the murals on the walls, but you are not allowed to take photos. In addition, the lighthouse still provides wind speed reports. Because it was very windy that day, the staff hung a black ball. You may ask what hanging a black ball means. It is a signal that a monsoon wind of more than 41 kilometers per hour was recorded. If there is a wind ball, the staff will change to a different wind ball signal. You can also take photos of the wind ball signal up close, which is also quite special. Afterwards, we walked down to Tap Seac Square, where there are many Portuguese cultural buildings, including the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building, the Macau Central Library, the Macau Art Center, etc. It is connected to the Holland Garden, where you can take photos or go in for a visit. Turn left there and walk towards Three Lights, where you will find different coffee shops and fashion stores. You can go shopping there if you have time. We found a coffee shop near Tap Seac Square called ORA Coffee. Their hot green tea Latte and iced green tea Latte are also of good quality. I believe many of my friends have been to the Senado Square and the Ruins of St. Paul's area. If you have time, you may want to go to October 5th Street (Kang Kong Night Market, which only operates on weekends) or Fulong New Street. These streets have different characteristics of architecture, lighting or food. Worth mentioning is the Portuguese egg tarts from Yingfeng Pizza Shop in Kanggong Night Market. The freshly baked crispy egg waffles and the delicious Portuguese egg tart fillings are really delicious.
