The building dates back to 1903. The site in front is currently under construction, so the entrance was a little difficult to find. There is an admission fee. Maizuru

Myohoji Temple This temple is located at 53 Nishi, Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture, and is said to have been founded at the end of the Muromachi period between 1570 and 1573. The temple's treasures, two of which are wooden paintings created during the Edo period, one of which is a white hawk on a cypress tree and the other is a Chinese child playing, and were designated as cultural properties of Maizuru City in 1993 for their preciousness. It is a 13-minute walk from JR Nishi-Maizuru Station. The vermilion mountain gate is impressive, and the roof tiles on the grounds are onigawara (demon tiles) on the roof to the right of the main hall, and were made in Bunkyu 2. #triplucky2022

Kenjuji Temple This temple, located at 96 Nishi, Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture, is said to have originally been opened as the family temple of Kyogoku Kochi, the founder of the Tanabe clan. I was impressed by the impressive stone walls, so I researched it and found out that the temple grounds were originally built as the northern branch castle of Atagoyama. During the Edo period, the Miyazuguchi guardhouse was set up as a key point on the Miyazu Kaido road. #triplucky2022

Miyake Shrine

Miyake Shrine A mysterious shrine founded in 751 Kitasui, Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is listed in the Engishiki Shinmeicho as one of the 11 shrines in Kasa County. It was originally located in the former Kitasui village, but moved to its current location in 1891. There is a lantern at the top of the stairs, and an explanation is given. It is located on a small hill, so there is a place where you can see Maizuru City. #triplucky2022 #shrine

Kyu Kitasui Josuijo Daiichi Haisuichi

Former Kitasui Water Purification Plant Facility This facility, located at 509 Kitasui, Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture, was built to secure large amounts of water for ships built in 1901. It is usually closed to the public, but there is a paid tour once a day on weekends and holidays, with reservations made at least five days in advance. From JR Higashi-Maizuru Station, it is a 35-minute walk. When you see the footbridge in front of the Self-Defense Force Pier bus stop on National Route 27 coming from the station, there is a road on the left that leads into the mountains just before that, so start from there. There is no sign at the entrance, but you can go up anytime. There are no street lights until you reach the top, so you will need a flashlight at night. The view is great and you can see the entire Maizuru Port East Port. #triplucky2022

Kitasui Tunnel

Kitasui Tunnel (former JNR Naka-Maizuru Line site) If you head towards Maizuru Kyosai Hospital from JR Higashi-Maizuru Station, the former JNR Naka-Maizuru Line site has been turned into a promenade. You can also use bicycles. About 10 minutes from the station is the Kitasui Tunnel, a registered tangible cultural property (structure) built in 1904. It is shown in the first photo. Also, along the promenade, there is Higashimon Park, where there is an explanation that Higashimon Station was once located. #triplucky2022
