Ice creaming and wandering around Otaru

Otaru (小樽) is a great sightseeing city with a side day trip from Sapporo. It is located nearby Sapporo with only 38 km away by 49 minutes of JR train. The European-influenced harbor front city is full of charm with beautifully preserved canal areas and historical buildings. In Hokkaido, soft serve ice cream in particular is incredibly popular. They also offer ice cream made with local specialty ingredients of each region. We literally had ice cream in every place we visited in Hokkaido, and the milk ice cream in Otaru is the absolute best.
