Gansu Pingliang Yan'en Temple Pagoda

Yan'en Temple Pagoda, also known as Daming Bao Pagoda or East Pagoda, is located in the east of Pingliang city. It was started in the 14th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1535 AD) and completed in the 25th year of Jiajing (1546 AD). It is the main building of Yan'en Temple in Pingliang Forbidden City built by Han Wang, who was sealed by the Ming Dynasty. In May 2006, it was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit. Yan'en Temple Pagoda is a seven-level eight-sided hollow tower building, 33.3 meters high, with a base circumference of 33.3 meters. The bottom is padded with red sandstone strips, the tower body is brick-built, the south is opened with a roll door, and the door lintel is embedded with a "Daming" stone tablet. From the second to the seventh floor, there are niches opened between the group doors on all four sides. There are brick carvings, imitation wood railings and window lattices beside the door. The brick carvings are bucket arches, and the layers are shallow eaves. The glazed tile eaves cover the top, and the iron cast pagoda is erected on the top. The eaves corners are hung with wind bells, and the wooden ladder inside the tower can be used for climbing. The pagoda has been completed for more than 460 years and has undergone several repairs. In recent years, due to earthquakes, lightning strikes, wind and rain erosion, and seasonal freezing and swelling, the disease has worsened. In 2011, it was approved by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage to be reinforced and repaired again, and the repair was completed in October of the following year.
