🙏🏻 Shunwang Temple, Shaoxing 💡 Opening hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm 🎫 Tickets: Free 📍 Location: Liangxi Village, Wangtan Town, Keqiao District 🚄 A hidden gem of Zhejiang - Shunwang Temple, Shaoxing 📸 Shunwang Temple was built before the Southern Song Dynasty, and the existing buildings were restored in the Qing Dynasty. Shun came here to meditate to avoid being surrounded by Yao's son, and the local people built Shunwang Temple to commemorate the prosperity brought by Shun. 📸 Built on a hillside, the temple is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with good feng shui. The temple is exquisitely detailed and very distinctive, with wood carvings, stone carvings, murals, Buddha statues, opera stages, and other elements, all relatively well preserved. There is a separate museum that tells the history and architecture of Shunwang Temple. 📍 Built on Shunwang Mountain. The temple is not large, but it is magnificent. As you climb the steps, the Xiao Shun River flows in front of you, and there is a 500-year-old camphor tree that has been growing since the time of Wang Yangming and is still lush and green. 📍 Shunwang Temple has three "spirits": tree spirit, fish spirit, and earth spirit. Shunwang Temple consists of a mountain gate, an opera stage, a main hall, and a back hall. The "Dashun Temple" plaque hanging in the middle of the mountain gate is an original Qing Dynasty artifact, and the beams are full of exquisite wood carvings. 📍 A three-story opera stage, with almost all the wooden components carved with figures, flowers, and birds, is extremely gorgeous. The top is decorated with a caisson, also known as a chicken coop top, composed of 16 spiral dougong brackets. This opera stage was one of the filming locations for episode 9 of the sequel to "Journey to the West," "Praying for Rain in Fengxian County." Although the temple is small, it is complete and worth savoring! 🚙 Other attractions around Shunwang Temple (If you haven't had enough, you can continue exploring) Wangtan East Village's Ten-Mile Plum Corridor is breathtaking when the flowers are in bloom. Shun Lake, with its clear water and pleasant surroundings. The Taoyinling Ancient Path in Wangtan Town is also worth a visit to experience the historical charm.
