Had lunch at London Fat Duck and honestly, it was a bit of a mixed bag. The vibe is casual, tucked inside places like Scotts Square, and it’s all about that juicy, glistening roast duck they call the “Wagyu of Ducks.” Sounds dramatic, but when the duck is done right—it’s really good. I went for the Signature London Roast Duck, and the skin was beautifully crisp while the meat underneath was fatty, tender, and rich. That slightly sweet marinade and the sour plum sauce on the side gave each bite a solid balance. It felt indulgent but in a good way. Also tried the Char Siew—sweet, sticky, and nicely caramelized on the edges. Super satisfying. The Black Pepper Duck Bun was another standout—like a mini duck burger with bold flavour inside a soft, toasted bun. The dim sum, though, was a bit hit-or-miss. Some of the dumplings felt overly processed and lacked that freshness or bite. The truffle dumpling in particular leaned more gimmicky than gourmet. Service was okay but a little uneven. It wasn’t busy, but things took longer than expected, and the surprise charge for plain hot water felt unnecessary. Not a dealbreaker, but for a sit-down spot, it could’ve been smoother. If you’re going, I’d say stick to what they’re known for—the duck, the char siew, and maybe the buns. Skip the sides and dim sum unless you’re feeling adventurous. They’ve also opened a hawker-style version called Teck Kee Fat Duck at Singapore Jiak food court—same Irish duck, just simpler and cheaper.
