Zhi Zhi An

Wuyi Mountain's Zhi Zhi An is located behind a bend of shimmering water and rocks, and it is said to have been the place of cultivation for Empress Dowager Hu, Zhang Zhan, and the brothers Yu Daochao and Yu Daoyuan. Later, it became the retreat for Jin Dynasty's Lou Shizhong and Tang Dynasty's Xue Bing. During the Song Dynasty, Li Taozhen, Li Tiedi, and Li Mojing successively lived here. In the ninth year of the Jiading era of the Southern Song Dynasty, the scholar Zhan Yanfu invested heavily in the reconstruction of the hermitage, naming it Zhi Zhi An, which means 'to stop where one stops, to observe the cessation of thoughts,' and invited Bai Yuchan to preside over it, marking the peak of its development. Wuyi Mountain's Zhi Zhi An is truly a millennium-old ancestral court of the Southern School, with its spiritual and exquisite nature, and the rare integration of three teachings. It also cultivates one of the four famous Wuyi Mountain fir trees, the White Cock's Comb. The scenic spot is located to the north of the first bend of the Nine Bend Stream in Wuyi Mountain, at the southern foot of the Great King Peak, directly opposite Huxiao Rock and behind Shuiguang Stone. It can be reached from Wuyi Palace - Wanchun Garden - Guanyu Terrace. The Cloudy Cold Jade Cave and the Smoke-Locked Qionglin, with green grass and the singing of hundreds of birds, are true descriptions of Zhi Zhi An.
