Henan | Jiaozuo Jingying Scenic Area

Jingying Scenic Area, located in Yingsi Village, Xicun Township, Xiuwu County, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, is 86 kilometers away from Zhengzhou, the provincial capital. It is named after a thousand-year-old temple - Jingying Temple in the scenic area. The scenic area integrates strange mountains, caves, waterfalls, springs, clear lakes, and white pines, blending ancient temples, secluded valleys, and stone carvings into one. It is known as a 'natural oxygen bar' and 'cave heaven and blessed land'! Here, you can enjoy flowers in spring, play in water in summer, watch red leaves in autumn, and admire snow in winter. Main Attractions Jingying Temple Jingying Temple was built in the Sui Dynasty. The reason for the construction of Jingying Temple has been controversial for a long time. According to historical records, in the third year of Kaihuang in the Sui Dynasty (583 AD), Emperor Wen of Sui built Jingying Temple in appreciation of the great contribution made by Master Huiyuan to the development of Buddhism, for Master Huiyuan to interpret and live in. (The second theory: Jingying Temple was built by Master Huiyuan. The third theory: Jingying Temple was the place where Tan Shi, the founder of Qinglian Temple and Master Huiyuan, practiced, and it was built by later generations to commemorate Tan Shi). Longmen Waterfall The waterfall is located between two mountains, like being embedded in a large stone vat, so it is called 'Longmen Vat'. Also, because the two provinces of Shanxi and Henan are divided by the water heart, there is a saying of 'one door opens two provinces'. Jingying Lake As the saying goes, 'where there is a waterfall, there must be a pool', Jingying Lake is located below Longmen Waterfall, in fact, a dam has been built downstream of Longmen Waterfall. The dam is 8 meters high, the water depth is about 80~350 cm, and the water area is about 30,000 square meters. The lake water overflows and forms a cascading waterfall, named 'Dragon Tail Waterfall'. Shuanggu Peak Shuanggu Peak is formed by crustal movement and long-term weathering and erosion. The larger one is called Huanggu Peak, and the smaller one is called Gongnu Peak. This scene is also a landmark scenery in Jingying Scenic Area. Yingsi New Village Yingsi New Village is located on the west mountain of Jingying Basin and was newly built in 2022. The total building area of the new village is about 3,500 square meters. Here you can not only experience local folk customs, but also accommodation and dining! Ape Fist Culture It is said that during the Northern Song Dynasty, the monks of the temple created a set of boxing techniques based on the Tai Zu Chang Quan combined with the movements of apes and monkeys. Because of its powerful and light posture, it was called 'Ape Fist'. During the Southern Song Dynasty, the monks exchanged ape fists to Shaolin Temple, which was supplemented and perfected, hence the saying that ape fist 'originated from Jingying and refined in Shaolin'. Jingying Villa Jingying Villa (integrating catering, accommodation, conference, entertainment and other service functions) is located in the core area of Jingying Scenic Area. It is built against the mountain and is a classical courtyard-style building. The villa is close to Jingying Temple, Shuanggu Peak, Sutra Platform, Longmen Waterfall and many other attractions.
