Yuncheng Cathedral

⛪️ Yuncheng Cathedral, officially known as the Cathedral of the Yuncheng Diocese, also referred to as the Xinjiang Cathedral, is located at No. 88 Hongqi West Street, Yanhu District, Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province. The original date of its construction is unknown, as a local parishioner mentioned, the original church occupied a large area and was quite grand, but it is unclear when it was destroyed. The current cathedral was approximately built at the beginning of this century, funded by donations of over 10 million yuan from local parishioners, who designed and constructed a self-sustaining Catholic complex building, including a large cathedral with St. Francis as its patron. 💒 The main structure and interior decoration of the church were personally designed and supervised by local parishioners who are knowledgeable in architectural design, giving it a unique style. This makes it one of the more distinctive churches in the Shanxi region.
