The Royal Belum ✨
#malaysia
Belum-Temenggor is the largest forest complex in peninsula Malaysia, located in Perak, and can be divided into two sections, which Belum is up north of the Malaysia-Thai border, while Temenggor is the south of Belum. The Royal Belum is a state park located within the forest complex. The forest complex is believed to exist over 130million years ago, making it one of the world’s oldest rainforest, older than the Amazon.
It was an all-inclusive 3D2N trip on a boat house, departing from the Hentian Royal Belum. The tour required a minimum of 32 members, where all will be spending time in the Belum-Temenggor lake. On the boat house, there were dorm-like rooms to accommodate all members and meals are prepared for all. Activities includes forest excursions, hiking, sightseeing and water activities.
Upon leaving the jetty, the boat departed northwards docking just inches away from the entrance into Royal Belum state park, where we will be spending a night at. The first activity was excursion at the Sg Papan forest, then on to the Sg Ruok waterfall. However due to bad weather, we did not manage to visit the waterfall and had to return to the boathouse. Evening was time for water activities on the lake where we get to canoe and bamboo raft. It was a great experience! Night time, we get to gather at the canteen and have karaoke session together.
On the second day the boathouse travelled southward to the Temenggor lake where we visited the Temenggor dam after lunch. We were brought to visit the Orang Asli Village and then a hike to Bukit Batu Putih, which is like a mini Mulu National Park. Water activity resumed in the evening.
Last day of the trip began with water activities and the boathouse then travelled back to the jetty after lunch time. All in all it was worth every penny and we all had a great time immersing in nature!
