📍 Mt. Daimonji, Kyoto Mt. Daimonji is known for the Gozan no Okuribi bonfires on August 16 every year! You can actually climb it from within the city! *The mountain with the character "Dai" in it ⛰️ You start the climb from the road behind Ginkakuji Temple, so it's convenient to get off the city bus at the "Ginkakuji-michi" stop 🚌 (there is a well-maintained hiking trail) I joined a tour because it was part of the activities at the hotel where I was staying, so there was a guide, but you can also climb it on your own ⛰️🤍 Once the sun went down, it was really dark and I went down the mountain with a flashlight, but if it's your first time, I think it would be hard to find the way, so if you're climbing on your own, it's probably best to do it during the day!!
