[2025 Dongyang Attraction] Travel Guide for Heng Dian New Yuanming Palace New Changchunyuan (Updated Jul)

This is not Manzhouli, but in Zhejiang. Zhejiang, a place full of surprises, this is my last stop in Hengdian. Unlike other places, it restores famous historical buildings at a 1:1 ratio, and is recommended by the World Tourism Organization as the best tourist destination. This is the New Yuanming Palace, located in Hengdian, Dongyang, Zhejiang. The entire park is divided into Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter Gardens, and currently the Spring and Summer Gardens are open. Most people will go to the popular Spring Garden, but overlook the Summer Garden next to it. In fact, the lesser-known Summer Garden is the most romantic, with very few tourists, and it is very stunning. One of the must-visit spots in the Summer Garden is the Russian Pavilion. It cleverly moved the Russian St. Varis Cathedral here, and the entire building is cleverly combined into one by nine towers, with strange shapes and colorful colors. What shocked me was that I couldn't pick out anything wrong here, the exquisite details and high degree of restoration made me feel like I was in real Russia. In addition, there are many places with Chinese and foreign architectural styles such as the Twelve Zodiac Twelve Beast Heads, the Great Water Method, the British Pavilion, and the Five Bamboo Pavilion. These places all reflect the legend of the 'Garden of Ten Thousand Gardens', which is a great masterpiece of Chinese and Western integration. In addition to the beauty of the architecture itself, there are various exhibitions and activities, such as the Piano Museum, art exhibitions, etc., providing tourists with a rich cultural experience. When playing, you can rent an electric car to play in the park, which is time-saving, labor-saving and convenient. 📍Overview of the trip Follow the series, experience the atmosphere of ancient China 🚇How to get there In the past, you had to take the train to Yiwu and then take a bus to Hengdian, but now Hengdian Railway Station is open. Traveling is much more convenient. You can take the high-speed train from Shanghai directly to Hengdian. Then you can call a didi for 10-20 yuan to go to your hotel or various tourist attractions. 📷Tourist attractions There are more than 10 tourist areas in Hengdian, 6-7 highlight zones and a few small sub-zones. We bought a 3-day, 5-zone ticket from Trip for 500 yuan. We chose to visit 5 zones: - Mingqing Palace - Qin Palace - Qingming River Shanghetu - Spring New Garden - Summer New Garden The first 3 zones are highlights that fans of the series should visit at least once because every corner you walk through will make you go, "Wow!" I've seen it in the series before. Luckily, when I went, it was after a long holiday, so there weren't too many people. Qingming Shanghetu is also open until 10 pm. So you can see the night view with magnificent lights (normally, it opens until around 5pm outside the festival). The last 2 zones are new gardens that have just been completed. The Spring Garden is very large. There are dozens of ancient Chinese-style palaces. If you walk, your legs will definitely be tired. You even have to rent a car for 180 yuan. It's very expensive but worth it because you really can't walk. The Summer Garden is located next door, but it's more European-style buildings. If you want to change the atmosphere, you can stop by and see it. It's like visiting 4-5 countries in one day. Another suggestion is to check the show times. Each zone has free shows, such as horseback riding, sword fighting, heaven and earth worshiping ceremonies, small theaters, etc. If you really want to see all the shows, you might need to spend a whole day in each zone. With the opening of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-speed Railway, it is more convenient to travel to southern Zhejiang. We chose to travel in early December because the autumn colors in southern Zhejiang are at their peak, and we can enjoy the colorful scenery. Our first stop is Dongyang City, where there is Luzhai and the famous Hengdian World Studios. Luzhai Scenic Area (Photos 1 and 2) is located in the city center of Dongyang, about 7-8 km from Hengdian Railway Station or Dongyang North Railway Station. Dongyang Hengdian New Yuanmingyuan Park was built by farmer entrepreneur Xu Wenrong at the age of 80, who invested CNY 30 billion and served as the chief commander. The park was built according to the blueprints of Beijing's Yuanmingyuan Park at a 1:1 scale. It is divided into New Yuanmingyuan Park, New Changchunyuan Park, New Qichunyuan Park, and New Changchunyuan Park (Dream of the Red Chamber Park), also known as Spring Garden, Summer Garden, Autumn Garden, and Winter Garden. It is a royal garden that combines Chinese and Western styles and is stunningly beautiful. The Piano Museum is located in the British Pavilion of the New Changchun Garden (Summer Garden). The collection of pianos in the Piano Museum has now reached nearly 100. You can take the subway to Hengdian, and you can take a taxi or share an electric motorcycle to Xiayuan. The transportation is very convenient. Xiayuan is the most interesting place to visit overall. As it is an important city, there is not much cultural history, just various filming locations and photo taking places. Xiayuan has beautiful scenery and grand buildings, which are high imitations of the Old Summer Palace buildings, such as the Great Fountain. Several performances were also outstanding. There are also many exotic buildings in the park, which are very suitable for checking in and taking photos.
