#wheretogo Sekinchan is a small town located about 1 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur. It is famous for its landscape of paddy fields and sumptuous of seafoods. It was an impromptu visit with buddies after a breakfast in Kuala Lumpur as the weather was great that day. So we car pool all the way to Sekinchan. We went in Dec, and it wasn't actually the best month to visit the paddy field as the harvest season has just passed. Nevertheless, we just try our luck and it turned out to be a great outing. The started with strolling around the padi field in a rented rickshaw bike. Then we stopover to the Paddy Gallery. This place is definitely worth the visit. It is a rice processing factory + gallery + museum where visitors get to learn everything about the life cycle of paddy from the seeds to the rice we eat. It also showcased the evolution of paddy plantation. At the end, visitors can also purchase ready packed rice there. Besides the gallery, visitor can also visit a Chinese temple nearby. Oh, don't forget to get yourself a nice icy coconut "float" (with ice cream), perfect drink under the blazing sun! Sekinchan is indeed famous for its wide expanse of rice fields, as far as the eye can see. For city dwellers especially, the soothing sight of paddy fields will definitely make you feel excited. This is the time to let the children know what a paddy plant looks like that produces rice. It is recommended to come in the season of ripe rice. At that time, the whole paddy field looked yellow like gold glittering in the sunlight. Definitely a different experience than others. Paddy fields in Sekinchan is grown twice a year, from March to June, and from September to December. Finally, the blue sky is back after almost 2 months of raining. Therefore, it is time to enjoy the driving route that surrounding by the padi field, especially during sunset time. It will turns into a golden sea during the harvest period around 1.5 months later, I'll be visiting there again by then. My local friend told me an interesting note, after a cold or rainy night, usually the next morning will have a spectacular low laying fog during sunrise. WE WERE ADVISED BY FRIENDS AND KAMPUNG FOLKS TO VISIT FEW CAFES THAT ARE FAMOUS FOR THEIR SIGNATURE DISHES AND THIS ONE PARTICULAR CAFE STOOD OUT ABOVE ALL. THE FAMILY OWNED SMALL CAFE OVERLOOKING THE PADDY FIELD HAS .A SIMPLE KAMPUNG DECOR WITH FRIENDLY HUSBAND AND WIFE. MOST OF ALL, THEIR PERFECTLY COOKED GRILLED CHICKEN THAT COMES WITH A BOWL OF DIPPING SAUCE IS WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR THE BLACK PEPPER MARINATED CHICKEN WITH CRISPY SKIN YET TENDER AND JUICY MEAT IS TO DIE FOR. One of the most populated tourist attraction spot in Malaysia. Based on my understanding, Sekinchan was a village and a rice paddy that produced fragrant and popular wheats and rice! It was once home to many villagers but now, due to modernization, many have left Sekinchan for places like Kuala Lumpur or Johor. The first two pictures depict the most frequent shop that sell handmade goods, snacks and traditional toys and it is a must visit place! Items are affordable and not too expensive! Store owners were also super duper friendly. Do visit them when you have a chance to drop by :)
